ROME (Reuters) - Italian police announced on Thursday the arrest of hundreds of suspected illegal immigrants in a sign of the new right-wing government's determination to clamp down.

Police arrested 383 people including 268 foreigners, with 53 immediately taken to the border for expulsion, in a week-long operation stretching from northern Italy to the Naples area.

Silvio Berlusconi swept back to power for a third term as prime minister last week promising to get tough on illegal immigrants, blamed by many for crime. He is readying new laws to screen immigrants and jail or expel those breaking the law.

Those arrested came from Eastern Europe, Albania, Greece, North Africa and China and face charges ranging from

No, Europe slumbers in a case of even worse political correctness than here.
The Left is entrenched there and loves their illegal aliens.

But Italy has had enough and Silvio is leading the charge.

“immediately taken to the border for expulsion”

Awesome.

We should have a catapult setup on the border with Mexico. There could be a scheduled launch every hour. Talk about family entertainment!!!

I’m in Germany at the moment and it’s been a real eye-opener.The Germans have identical situation as we do with Mexicans; except for them it`s illegal Polish people coming across the border in droves and working for cheap. It’s happening all over it seems- The Left and their New World Order, breaking down sovereign borders....is working. How about a rousing chorus of “Internationale”....I’m gonna be sick....

in a sign of the new right-wing government's determination

Why is it that enforcing immigration laws is a "right-wing" issue?

Excluding the UK, Europe is ahead of the US in recognizing the Shariah threat.

It may not seem that way because a greater proportion of their populace is Muslim.

But they are catching on, while we are still coddling them.

Don’t hold your breath. My Italian friends have rather paradoxical views. They hate hosting the freeloading illegal immigrants and the crime that some of these immigrants create yet support leftist and Communist politicans who do little about the illegal immigrant problem for the sake of government programs and entitlements which serve the Italians’ interests. Furthermore, they don’t see how (or maybe choose to ignore the fact) these same politicians are bankrupting their nation as well as the rest of Europe. Hmmm....they act like Liberals here in the US.

“Is Europe finally waking up to illegal immigration? “

let me just say this before any of u come to the conclusion that europe is waking up to these alarming amounts of illigals entering into the continent. In 1982 there was less than 2.5 million muslims in france. Today there are over 6 million. Muslims make up 10% of the population of france however they also make up 55% of the prison inmates. I ENCOURAGE YOU ALL TO USE THE INTERNET FOR RESEARCH THE NEWS WILL NEVER TELL U THIS BECAUSE THEY NEVER WANT TO SHINE A NEGATIVE LIGHT ON THE TRUE ENEMY. THANK YOU POLITICAL CORRECTNESS

I think actually that Denmark started leading the charge in Europe a few years ago. The majority party for the last few years has been I believe the "Danish Peoples Party" which is very strictly anti immigration. My Brother-in-law is a Danish citizen and he's kept me up to date over the years. Denmark has VERY strict immigration, welfare, and work permit laws. It's good to see some other countries in Europ pick up the torch and run with it.
