First Lady Laura Bush said Monday that a sudden tornado nearly swept away preparations for her daughter's wedding this weekend, but despite that one "setback," the event went off without a hitch. "It was just perfect. It was exactly the way Jenna wanted it. She was absolutely beautiful," said Bush of her 26-year-old daughter's marriage Saturday to Henry Hager, 30.
Around 200 family members and friends gathered for the outdoor ceremony was held at Bush's 1,600-acre (650-hectare) Prairie Chapel Ranch, far from the pomp and publicity of the White House.
"We did have a little -- one setback on Friday night," she told a gathering of Senate spouses in Washington, describing a tornado on the property while the guests were at a pre-wedding party in another town.
"So we had all the -- all the catering ovens were turned over and the sides were ripped off the tent. But everyone worked wildly and you couldn't even tell the next night. It was just perfect, everything was great."
Did they leave the ranch gates wide open for whoever wanted to show up?
I’m guessing GWB steered the weather system over to the other side of the tracks, a’la Katrina.
unlike the wedding, in the distant, distant future, of chelsea clinton, noone was issued a barf-bag. ;)
yes, I believe he borrowed the Rove weather machine. It has been sitting idle for some time.
Nope. That cloud covered most of that county Friday evening. We take it in stride...that is how we get our rain for the pastures & tanks.
I think Rove made sure it headed to New Orleans..........
