Lord, we intercede on behalf of our president. We pray for his protection and his peace, his renewal and his guidance. We ask that You would make this a day of blessing for him and his family as his daughter marries. We pray that her marriage would be rooted in Your Word, and bring You glory according to Your will.
As always, Lord, we pray for our troops. We are grateful, Father, that they endure so much for our sake and for the sake of the Iraqis. We pray that You would bless their efforts. May they and their families have peace. May You be their shade on their right hand, that the sun would not harm them by day nor the moon by night, and bring them safely home.
Father, we pray for our country. We pray every good blessing for our land - especially for the crown and root of them all, an obedient spirit towards You. We pray also for the comfort, encouragement, and strengthening of Your people throughout the world.
We pray, Lord, to be obedient children and willing servants to You. May we never forget Your kindness, the tender mercy You have for us. Your will be done, Father, and Your Name glorified. In the Name of Jesus our Lord, Amen.
I seem to have left the “Pray for President Bush - Day” out of the title. Could you please correct this for me?
I was wondering what “2795” had to do with anything.
It’s close to the number of days since the 2000 election, but by my reckoning about 25 short.
Yes... I looked up the last thread to see what day it was, typed it in, and then proceeded briskly to the next box.
“In the year 2795...”
A call to prayer.
Prayers for President Bush and our Country.
Thank you, Irish Rose.
“....if man is still alive”
Delight our Presidential family this day, Creator God, with the absolute joy of witnessing the marriage of a beloved daughter ... may You be preeminent in the ceremony and festivities. Let nothing hinder the radiance of this day, and let nothing ever stand in the way of Your Lordship over husband and wife. Blessed be Your Name ... from Glory to Glory, thou art God.
May it be, Merciful Father, that America's sons and daughters will soon leave foreign soil, completely victorious in vanquishing the enemy, leaving countries fully able to govern democratically, having a fervent desire to do so. “From victory unto victory, His army shall He lead, ‘Til every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.”
O Father, that our beloved country would seek Your face, in humble repentance, turning from our wicked ways ... we would be forgiven ... You would heal our land, such is Your Promise (2 Chronicles 7:14). May we yet feel the winds of sweet revival sweeping across our country ... may we yet see the eyes of Your beloved Israel opened to the cleansing Blood of the Lamb ... may we continue in our prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem ... even so, Come quickly, Lord Jesus.
Send one to us, Merciful God, who will occupy the Office of President with a heart turned toward You ... one who seeks after You. You see what our eyes cannot ... in faith believing, Lord, we pray. Amen ...
A pastor I know and love is discouraged. Although he is diligent in prayer and works hard, his church remains small while a new congregation nearby is rapidly developing into a megachurch. Yet when I think of the alcoholics, drug addicts, and sexually immoral people he has led to the Savior and a new way of life, I see him as one who witnesses in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Because of what happened on the Day of Pentecost (described in Acts 2), we tend to associate the Holy Spirits presence and power with amazing phenomena and large numbers. We forget that a little later the same people filled with the same Holy Spirit were rejected, flogged, imprisoned, even executed. But through it all they were powerful witnesses!
The Holy Spirits presence and power can be evidenced in a dynamic preacher who attracts great audiences. But it is seen as well in the volunteer who carries on a one-on-one prison ministry, in the person who witnesses to a co-worker or a neighbor, and in the Sunday school teacher who faithfully teaches week after week.
The power of Pentecost is not especially reserved for the highly gifted. Rather, it is available to all believers in Christ who want to serve Him.
We started praying for the President before the 2000 election. The first prayer thread can be found here:

Amen to your beautiful prayer, Irish. May the Lord bring great blessings to our President and his family, and to Jenna and Henry on this special day.
May Jenna and Henry have all the joy and love their hearts can hold and may the Lord bless GWB and Laura!
I agree with your wonderful prayers in Jesus Name, amen.
Thank You for beautiful prayers.
May our Lord cover and support our troops. God bless President Bush and his family on this wonderful day.
It’s not the number of people in a church that matters. It’s the Holy Spirit residing in them that brings them victory and joy and peace. Hallelujah, what a Saviour.
We are Standing on Holy Ground,
And I Know that there are Angels All Around,
Let us Praise Jesus now,
We are Standing in His Presence, on Holy Ground.' {by Christopher Beatty and Geron Davis}
Amen.
