Idahoans, Meet Clayton Cramer (Running for ID Senate Dist 22)
Cramer for Senate ^ | unknown | Clayton Cramer

Posted on 05/09/2008 12:02:45 PM PDT by GOP_Raider

Welcome!

I'm running for Idaho State Senate seat 22 against the Republican incumbent, who I don't see as conservative enough for our district. This was something of a last minute decision for me, and it was not an easy one. As this web page demonstrates, I am not spending money on campaign consultants and web developers. Please look around, and if you think I am a bit more of what you think your representative in the upper house of the Idaho legislature should be, then please vote for me in the May primary.

Clayton Cramer has done an enormous amount of very powerful and intelligent work regarding the RKBA and its history, from court decisions on down. One of his most prominent works was the thorough debunking of Micheal Bellesiles (remember him?) bogus book "Arming America" where Bellesiles lamely attempted to rewrite American history regarding firearms ownership.

"Arming America"

Ah, yes. When Bellesiles was asked where he got his information, I believe he said the San Francisco Library. However, all the info was lost after the 1906 earthquake, if memory serves.

I’ve met Clayton Cramer before, and had the chance to break bread a few times with him, and I can honestly say that he is not only one of the most intelligent people I’ve met, but a really nice person as well. I wish him all the best, and wish we could have some like him on the national scene.

As Keyes2000mt reminded us, ID Senate District 22 is in scenic Boise and Elmore County:

Blush! In several of the startups I worked at in California, I thought of myself as part of the lower half of the bell curve.

I would have preferred not to run for this seat. The Idaho legislature is part-time—which means that you get $16,000 to work your tail off for three months of the year—and hope that you can persuade your employer to accommodate you.

I am beginning to think this is a winnable primary race for me—and in this district, it is almost a walk to victory once you have the Republican nomination.

Thanks to those who have been making contributions. They are very useful. I could use another $2000 to make a second mass mailing in my district.

Wow, Clayton Cramer has an account here at FR and replies to the thread! I have to admit I never thought our little menagerie of Idahoans would have this kind of impact.

Anyway, what I’ve been doing—or trying to do anyway—is highlighting some GOP candidates that have caught my eye here in the state, since we have a primary coming up and all. We had a few FReepers mention you, hence the thread and subsequent replies.

What I and perhaps a few more of us will need to know is: can we still make contributions to your campaign even though we don’t live in your district? (I live in Dist. 21 for example).

Thanks for stopping by and keep us updated on how things are going.

Clayton would raise both the IQ and the integrity level of the Idaho Legislature.

One surprising aspect of the incumbent is that he boasted at an Elmore County Republican Central Committee I was at last month about using his official position to lean on the Idaho Transportation Department for the benefit of a trucking firm that he owns. He apparently didn’t see why this would be a problem.

Good luck on your primary. It is important that we get good people in the states so we get a good group to go on to Federal level.

When is the primary. I do check your website from time to time. I can not vote for you,I live on the East Coast.

The Idaho primary appears to be May 27, according to this.
