My wife always plans for the bride to "change clothes" quickly after the ceremony so that she's not worn out for the rest of the day. If you hadn't noticed almost all bridal gowns are neck to floor, hot, stuffy, body de-enhancing, etc. (except where the bride tries to pretend she has "enormous American breasts".)
BTW, we attended a betrothment for a friend's daughter (they're Shia). She had several girls she went to highschool with her. They all wore these really elaborate and quite fancy Afghan wedding dresses. Bright colors, etc. AND ALL WITH VEILS.
They have several shops in the area that rent them (and with 25,000 Afghans we definitely have some weddings going on).
The biggest difference between the Afghan gowns for the bride and her party was that there were no "bare shoulders", "bare backs" or "bare arms". Almost like an Orthodox Jewish wedding ~ except this was just a betrothment, and that takes the place of the "show up in costume part".
No, none of these girls grew up on a steady diet of burqas, but they definitely went "large" with the gowns which are as heavy and stuffy as anything found in Christian services.

You’re supporting honor killings by muslims now? If Islam is the same as other religions (as you seem to imply), then why does Iran have honor killings after the Arab-muslim invasion and didn’t have such a “cultural value” before then?
Creeping islamism is like creeping socialism - once it gets a hold in any society, it becomes very difficult, if not impossible, to loosen this hold.
