Amazing this child was allowed to actually give birth, and wasn't forced to have an abortion--I'm stunned!
I am curious as to whether or not the perpetrator was a complete stranger or if he was an acquaintance of the victim. Because if this had happened in USSR-Washington State (where I live) and he was a complete stranger, his punishment would be less than if he was an acquaintance.

this would be the only justification for an abortion, but even then, I still think that it is best not to put a 10 year old girl thru the trauma of an abortion.

And the story doesn’t clarify if she will get to keep the baby—maybe she has a very supportive family that is going to help raise the baby. Prayers for the poor ‘mother’ in her and the baby’s future.

Things are very different now, it is not at all uncommon for 9 and 10 year old girls to have periods. I think it is due to the hormones in so much of the meat. I just wonder what the long term results of such early maturity will be.

I am actually surprised she survived the childbirth! That would be very hard for a 10 year old. I am for hanging this man but I don’t know......should we have him work and have pay child support?

The girl gave birth less than two weeks ago by caesarian section at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg, Fremont County Sheriff Ralph C. Davis and other authorities said. Officials would not disclose the gender, date of birth or paternity of the baby.
“I wouldn't have believed a 10-year-old could conceive in the first place,” Davis said.
A hospital spokeswoman would not discuss the condition of the girl or the baby and would not say whether either was still in the hospital Wednesday.

St. Anthony police began investigating on April 28 after medical officials reported a pregnant child, and Guadalupe Gutierrez-Juarez, 37, of St. Anthony, was arrested the same day, Police Chief James Smith said.
“We had good information from witnesses,” Smith said.

Chances are that a ten year old who is physically mature enough to conceive has been sexualized at a very early age and, in my opinion, most likely does not have much family support.

I respectfully disagree with you all. The agony and memories that this little 10 year old girl had to go through during childbirth will last forever. An abortion could have been “hidden” under other medical procedures.
There are times for abortion and this was one of those times. Sorry we disagree, but.........think of the little girl and not the baby this time.

Which child? It’s time like this when I question why a kind and loving God would ever have allowed this to happen to an innocent little child of 10 years old.
Please don’t flame me with “who am I to question”, “it’s God’s will” etc.
Having endured almost 14 years of infertility (6 before finally achieving motherhood, and now 7 years later now with this pregnancy) by the grace of God :*), I have learned that NO baby’s life is an ‘accident’, there’s just no such animal. Each and every life if precious and we should treat it as such. IMO, I cannot justify ANY reason for murdering any little innocent unborn life, although I realize most people think ‘for the mother’s health’ or ‘mother is a victim of rape or incest’ is an adequate reason to destroy that life/lives. If, God forbid, a choice had to be made between saving me and the babies I am carrying, it is a no brainer for me—save the babies!! Realistically though I know a lot of people discount the unborn as ‘not really people until they are born’ and they would sacrifice the baby/ies without a second thought ‘for the mother’s sake’.
I am so sorry for what this little 10 year old went through, both rape and being pregnant and delivering at this young age, and I also burn with rage against the animal that did this to her. Again, as far as religion and faith go, I have learned to depend on God and I trust Him no matter what happens, both good and bad. I’m not going to flame you for your unbelief in God, that’s not my place. All I know is that God’s fingerprints are all over this little girl and her baby, and who knows what wonderful things He has planned for them both in the future?

The little girl has gone thru enough already. Abortion leaves scars for life. There are two victims here. Why should one have to die?
There is never any reason for abortion. Rarely a mother or the child must be seperated, when their life is in danger. When that happens though everything is done to save both.
I suspect there was some sort of medical intervention in order for you to achieve your pregnancy status after such a long period of being infertile? If so, it is the by the grace of the doctors and advanced medical technology that you have become pregnant with your “babies I am carrying”, which is often the case with artificial insemination, hormone therapy, etc. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I admire your convictions, but I disagree with you when you say that there is absolutely no reason for a therapeutic abortion. Again, the emotional and physical scars will long outlast the memories of a painless abortion given under the auspices of another medical “procedure”. It is wrong for children to give birth to children.
Placing the emotions of an expectant mother aside, put one of your little girls in the same situation. Being raped by the most despicable vile animal you can envision. Then, you making the decision that she should endure the pain involved in carrying to term and giving birth to the child because it is God's will? The guilt would kill me if I thought that I had the power to allow something that could have been prevented.
It's sort of like the question I often ask myself, “why do babies get brain cancer?”, “why do innocent children suffer the worst imaginable pain for years from incurable diseases”? I cannot fathom the idea that God would allow that to happen to someone he supposedly chose to be born in the first place.
I guess you'd have had to have been there to understand why I question this.
