Obama gains superdelegates after trading wins with Clinton

Barack Obama pocketed the support of at least four Democratic convention superdelegates on Wednesday, building on the momentum from a convincing North Carolina primary victory. Rival Hillary Rodham Clinton vowed to remain in the race "until there's a nominee."

The former first lady declined to say whether that meant through the roll call of the states at the Democratic National Convention this summer.

Clinton also disclosed that she had loaned her campaign an additional $6.4 million in recent weeks, evidence that her once front-runner campaign was in deep trouble.

She told reporters the loans were a sign of her commitment to her quest for the White House. She earlier loaned herself $5 million as she struggled to keep up with a better-financed Obama campaign.

Obama, now the front-runner, was home in Chicago during the day as his aides spread word that he would soon begin campaigning in states likely to be pivotal in the fall campaign. They also relayed word of the four endorsements, expected to be made public later in the day. Both disclosures were meant to signal fresh confidence that the nomination was quickly coming into his possession after a grueling marathon across 15 months and nearly all 50 states.

Clinton's appearance in Shepherdstown, W.Va., was meant to underscore her determination to stay the course. She also arranged a private meeting later in the day with uncommitted superdelegates.

Jeanette Council, an undecided superdelegate from North Carolina, said she decided over the weekend to endorse Obama but waited until after voters cast their ballots to announce it on Wednesday.

"I just think Senator Obama is the face of America," Council, a commissioner from Cumberland County, said in an interview with The Associated Press.

The Super Duper Delegates (who don't trust their own constituents) should use campaign finance sources as a metric for deciding who truly has support among the great unwashed. Hillary is loaning herself money, and Barry is getting most of his support from independent donors. This sounds like as valid a metric to use as any.

Hillary’s campaign is going down in history like the Titanic went down.

The Ice Princess of Politics has hit her own iceberg. She’s been taking on water for a while. Her campaign has been in big trouble since at least Super Tuesday, Feb. 5th, and never really got their mojo back after that.

The wimpy superdelagates will now say “Oh yeah, I was with him all along.” Cowards. Everyone who declares this late should have “Ambition” tattoed across their foreheads. Johnny and Joann come latelys will give him the nomination, but only after making Hillary walk her long and rotting plank.

It really doesn’t matter how my state votes, but I just wanted to wait so I wouldn’t get shot before announcing.

Hillary will go to her grave believing she was cheated of what was rightfully hers. I believe she’s insulted by the whole idea of having to campaign, since she feels entitled to the presidency. And how she must hate the voters, the “little people” on whose behalf she claims she’s always working.
