McCain Denies Huffington Vote Claim
Washington Post ^ | 5/5/08 | Howard Kurtz and Juliet Eilperin

After sitting on the story for nearly eight years, Arianna Huffington said this afternoon that John McCain told her soon after the 2000 election that he did not vote for George W. Bush.

The private conversation took place at a Los Angeles dinner party, she said, and the senator's wife Cindy said she didn't vote for Bush either. The liberal blogger, who posted the account on her website today, said McCain's declaration came after a tirade in which he criticized Bush's tactics against him in their battle for the GOP nomination.

This is a tough call - who to believe - Arianna Huffington or John McCain?

Both serial liars. Flip a coin. ;)

I don’t doubt it for a minute.

Who cares? Bush probably won’t vote for McCain either.

Considering that he has admitted thinking about changing parties after his 2000 defeat, and considering he had his staff query Kerry about being the VP nominee, that McCain did not vote for Bush — either in 00 or 04 — would be no surprise.

Well, I sorta care. A vote is private - McCain didn’t need to blab about not voting for Bush to Arianna Huffington of all people - nor did Ms. Cindy need to chime in.

I’m also wondering if “I didn’t vote for Bush” means he didn’t vote for Prez or he voted for Kerry.

This was right after the election. Imagine what the RINO relic’s state of mind was. We know he was still fuming couple of years later and playing footsies under the table with Puff Daschle about leaving those mean-spirited and nasty conservatives in the Republican Party for his spiritual soul brothers in the Democrat Party like Teddy Kennedy. I hate to side with Arianna Huffington against ANYBODY, but the ring of truth falls with her not the Keating Five Guy.

Yup. McCain Entertained Idea of Being John Kerry's VP.

Real "conservative footsoldier," that one, huh...?

It really doesn’t matter. I voted this morning and I didn’t vote for McCain. Alan Keyes was on the ballot so I voted for him, but when push comes to shove, I’ll vote for the socialist over the two communists.

JM did not vote for George Bush, I do believe that. That man has done everything he can to undermined the President.
JM is an egomaniac or is it megalomaniac?.

I think a vote is private as well. Huffington had no business telling what she may have heard, and McCain was foolish to tell her, because he knew he would be running for office again and it would come back to haunt him. That shows his total arrogance and disregard for the good of the GOP.

If you ask me after the election today in North Carolina if I voted for McCain, I will tell you “no”. I plan on voting straight CONSERVATIVE ballot, and McCain does not fit the bill.

A response from one of McCain's aides:

Asked why Huffington would make up her story about McCain not voting for Bush, longtime McCain aide Mark Salter — who has previously tangled with the Huffington Post — ripped into her. "Why would she make something up? Because she's a flake, and a poser, and an attention seeking diva. And that's on the record."

That’s okay I believe her. Mccain felt about Bush like I feel about him. No Way!

I don’t doubt it either, but it still doesn’t change my support for McCain. Obama and Clinton are both dangerous and I refuse to allow this woman to manipulate me. She’s a menace.

He probably didn’t vote for Bush, but I don’t really know what the point is. Those two votes from the McCain household didn’t make any difference either way.

Huffington barely speaks English so it's possible he said “you are a real douche” and she thought he said “I didn't vote for Bush”.
