Nope, they're not born gay. In fact, the joke at Smith College is that some number of them are LUGS (Lesbians until Graduation), or as I heard so succinctly put about a women's prison; "Gay for the Stay".

While male homosexuals like to talk about feeling like they were 'born gay', most lesbians proudly say theirs was a political decision as a rejection of the patriarchy. Or in the case of some lipstick lesbians, they'll do anybody, male or female.
