Good post. I would only add that we’ve done this before, sending a carrier to the Gulf. I know it sends a message, is that message getting diminished because it is now seen as a bluff.

That is why we know its going there isn’t a bluff. Bush wants to do it more than we do be sure of that. We have to believe he will do what’s necessary for world stability. Notice how quiet the Russians have been on the subject lately. Guess why, I bet because they get to rebuild Iran and will get paid with Iranian cash to do it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they get something else too, say Kosovo or missile defense?

When it is really a tactic whereby the enemy becomes comfortable with the threat. Thus, there can be suprise.
