The Republican candidate in a special election to fill an unexpectedly contested seat in a conservative Mississippi congressional district is using recent controversies surrounding Senator Barack Obama to tar his Democratic rival.

A television ad from Southaven Mayor Greg Davis tells viewers that his Democratic rival, Travis Childers, a realtor and Prentiss County official, has accepted the endorsement of "liberal Barack Obama."

Then, with Childers' face beside footage of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, it says, "When Obama's pastor cursed America, blaming us for 9/11, Childers said nothing."

Then: "When Obama ridiculed rural folks for clinging to guns and religion, Childers said nothing."

"He took Obama's endorsement over our conservative values. Conservatives just can't trust Travis Childers," the ad concludes.

Unlike a much-reported North Carolina Republican ad attacking Obama, the Mississippi spot is actually airing on television.

The spot marks Obama's rapid ascent in conservative demonology, to a place in an attack ad in a contested race that -- until several weeks ago -- would have been lent to Teddy Kennedy or Hillary Clinton. A National Republican Congressional Committee spot airing in the same district seeks to link Childers to Obama, John Kerry, and Nancy Pelosi.

First Louisiana, then North Carolina, and now Missisippi.

Obama&Wright are replacing Hillary to become enemy #1.

Will spineless McCain denounce this ad as well? If somehow Republican candidates pull off some victories in Louisiana & Missippi after airing these ads, expect more to come!!

Go Obamammamama

Obviously, this MS district is out of touch with reality in the Republican party....

Great ad. Every conservative district should be using Obama against Democratic candidates.

And according to this article, the NC GOP ad is supposed to start airing this Tuesday.

I just love all of these Maverick republicans following in our new leaders footsteps don’t you?

This is great, while Juan McCain wants to tell us what to do, what to think, what to say there are still a few of us who can figure it all out without his help.

I think my tagline sums it up!

Funny how the comments by liberals on YouTube call the ad "racist" when race was never mentioned.

And the door on his nose. I prefer McCain to the others , but the fact remains , any of these lightweights will limp in . More than ever the control will be in the house and the senate. Lame ducks , no matter who slithers in.

“Will spineless McCain denounce this ad as well?”

If I heard this correctly, McCain has backed off. Obama said on Foxnews today that his relationship with Rev. Wright was fair game. Since Obama said Wright was fair game, McCain said he would back off the NCGOP.

Photobucket Mccain is foolish from running from this...except to take the superficial high road. Because if we simply go by truth and free speech, this ad exposes the hatred and subversive values of Obama and his supporters.

Hahaha, when he saw that the NC Republican Party was making him look like a spineless jackazz who is irrelevant to much of the party, I guess he decided he might as well go with the flow to save face. We’ll know for sure by his reaction to the MS ad.

McCain should ignore the nits, and keep pounding at the real meat of Obama’s politics, which have nothing to do with racist pastors or local ads. He’s pointing out Obama’s lack of experience and judgement, and his socialist ideas, as making him unqualified to be President.
