Tony Snow: 'I love the folks at Fox'

Despite joining CNN today, Tony Snow said he still has affection for his former colleagues at Fox News, where he worked prior to his stint as President Bush's press secretary

"Make no mistake, I love the folks at Fox," Snow told me this afternoon, by phone from Spokane, Washington.

"Everybody is going to try and create a Fox and CNN narrative out of this," said Snow, who also mentioned that he "love[s]" Fox News chief Roger Ailes and would "walk over broken glass" for Bill O'Reilly.

It's not out of the ordinary to bring up the Fox/CNN rivalry, given that Fox News, from its launch just over a decade ago, has been battling the cable news network. A caustic relationship, Ailes has even posed the question of why CNN hates America.

But even with the move to CNN, Snow maintains at least one Fox affiliation: He will continue hosting O'Reilly's radio show on Fridays.

Snow did not want to get into any specific conversations he may have had with Fox executives, but said that he'd received offers from several networks. However, CNN's offer to be a political analyst during the 2008 campaign was the best one.

"I’ll be part of the political unit in what’s one of the most amazing political years I can remember," Snow said, about his return to cable news.

Not to mention, since Snow's political views diverge from more of CNN's regular commentators, he'll likely stand out a bit more than on Fox.

check the message boards at Politico.com and CNN.com for this story. The lefties are just losing their minds - literally.

The idea of having an out of the closet conservative in the midst of CNN appears to make liberal ‘progressives’ just wig out. Apparently, only a complete boycott of any people on the right whatsoever can allow a network to maintain its balance and integrity. It okay to have socialists masquerading as journalists but if a single member of the GOP can speak on camera then there is no hope.

This pretty much proves that lefties only believe they can win when they face absolutely, positively no opposition of any kind. If a single conservative can face them, the entire network will be tossed into the GOP column - so powerful is the mojo that conservatives possess.

My gut says we have to cut Tony some slack. At least he's not in Loon Land with Christine Matthews and Keith small pecker.

And I bet the money is paying some bills I don't have. God be willing.

Tony Snow is joining CNN as a conservative commentator (or contributor), the network announced today. Snow, who spent 10 years at Fox News, left his job as White House Press Secretary in September, saying he needed to make more money to support his family.

Snow said he would "walk over broken glass"

I guess the only thing that got cut up was Snow's credibility.

This is actually a good move for CNN. Get a well known conservative for their election shows. The far left viewers aren’t going to leave the channel for FOX News. And CNN may get a few conservative viewers...but not this conservative.

I don’t fault him.

Actually this may work out for the best. Fox News keeps sliding over toward the left, now that they think they’ve sewed up the conservative audience. If CNN starts moving right, they might force the Murdochs to reconsider that leftward policy, because they would risk shedding their conservative viewers if they did’t watch out.

There’s already quite a lot of discontent. Fox is treating their conservative base much as the RNC does, thinking that they have no choice but to take it and lump it.

Tony can do more good for the cause at CNN than preaching to the choir at Fox.

Snow will be the only reason I tune in to CNN. It’s a good move on their part and I hope Tony is getting paid a ton of dough.

Hey, Tony Snow has had some gargantuan medical bills to deal with the last several years, and working as the WH Press Secretary was hardly keeping him in an income he’s been used to...So if CNN offers him a lucrative contract, why shouldn’t he take it? It’s not like their making him swear an oarh to Hanoi Jane while in the middle of her Pentagram...*I’d( go work for PMSNBC if they offered a juicy enonugh pay or play contract...Not that they ever would...OlberMonkey would have forgotten all about BOR within a week, with what i’d do to himand Crap Mattews in front of a mike and camera! >Bo)

What credibility? He’s a talking head, that’s his job, go out there and talk for money. In some gigs he gets to talk his own opinion, in some gigs he doesn’t, in some he doesn’t talk his own opinion but makes it look like he is. If you think ANY talking head in the history of media had credibility you don’t understand the job. They talk for money, that’s the job, that’s always been the job, that’s always gonna be the job.

God bless, Tony. As I said on another thread, I don't get cnn, so wouldn't watch even if I could.

However, I do love you, and know that you made the decision right for you and your family.
