Stuttering Democrats - John McCain was the Big Winner
American Spectator ^ | April 17th, 2008 | Philip Klein

Posted on 04/17/2008 12:10:58 PM PDT by The_Republican

Clinton came across as craven and dishonest, while the normally eloquent Obama buckled under tough questioning about his relationships with former Weather Underground member Bill Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Gibson reminded Obama that more than year ago he asked Wright not to attend the announcement of his candidacy, reportedly telling his long-time pastor, "You can get kind of rough in sermons. So, what we've decided is that it's best for you not to be out there in public." Gibson then asked Obama why, knowing Wright was "rough in sermons," it took him more than year to distance himself from remarks.

Obama responded unconvincingly, saying that even though he had close relationship with Wright that spanned decades, it wasn't until he read an article in Rolling Stone that he found out that the reverend had delivered inflammatory sermons, and that it wasn't until he saw YouTube clips that he was aware of Wright's even more explosive comments.

But in last month's highly touted race speech, Obama said: "Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? YES."

Clinton didn't fare any better when, by video, a voter asked about her fantastical recreation of her visit to Bosnia in 1996.

"I can tell you that I may be a lot of things. But I'm not dumb," Clinton said. "On a couple of occasions in the last weeks, I just said some things that weren't in keeping with what I knew to be the case and what I had written about in my book."

Well there's a word for when intelligent people say things that they know not to be true. It's called: LYING. I'm surprised she never learned this from her grandfather who worked in the lace mills in Scranton.

Both Democrats came out of it looking like unprincipled pols. That doesn't matter to the hardcore leftist base that dominates the Democratic primaries. But it may color the general electorate's perception of the Democratic nominee in the fall.

Too many older Democrats in this country have it ingrained in their souls to go in and pull the Dem lever every election, my mother-in-law is one, my own mother is another, although I’ll have to say she’s having to think about it more now. We will always have problems pulling in more Republican votes because of it.

My Grandpa is one of those older Democrat voters. He says he’s voting for McCain.

Judging by what Rev Wright has been saying and doing lately, it sure doesn’t look like he’s good buds with Obama. Who needs enemies with a friend like him...

Good for your Grandpa. The older folks should also wake up to what the Rats would do to their health care.

My MIL. When we tell her about Obama's pro-infanticide voting record, she changes the subject. It's all about free stuff.

It's not a question of whether or not McCain is going to win, the question is by how much.

The crazy Democrats are going to nominate a guy who can't possibly win a general election, even worse than Kerry.

Your grandpa understands that he has a Democrat lite alternative (McCain) in the race so he’s not straying too far from his roots.

I think pajamas media has reduced the ability to lie your way to the top.
If we had the internet in 1992, WJC & HRC would never have risen beyond the level of Ozark political hacks.

The Democrat Party Officials have gone from thinking they have a certain win to wondering if they can even win ONE state.

The Reverend Wright and the Reverend Fred Phelps are birds of a feather:

Reverend Phelps = "God hates Fags"

Reverend Wright = "God hates Whites"

OK, Here's my concern:

We all know the MSM and its bias. I believe (and I can base this on really no more than gut feeling and past experience with the MSM) that they are asking the difficult questions now for two reasons:

1) Obama will most likely win the nomination.

2) Now that they have asked these questions during a time when only the more hard core political watchers are paying attention, they will not ask them again in the future when we are much closer to the general election. It will be "covered ground".

I've just been burned too many times by the MSM to believe that they are now beginning to focus on fair journalism. We've got to see the angles and McCain better get ready for a nasty media.
