Freshman Grace Wang has been called a traitor since appearing to support Tibetan independence at a pro-Tibet demonstration April 21. Her parents' home in China was vandalized Wednesday.A Duke student's participation in last Wednesday's pro-Tibet and pro-China protests has led to retaliation against the student and her family and has attracted international attention.

The home of freshman Grace Wang in the city of Qingdao, China was allegedly vandalized as a result of her involvement in the protests. The Chronicle has obtained an image of a bucket of what appears to be feces poured in front of an apartment door from the Chinese Internet forum bbs.cnhan.com. Speaking about patriotism, notice how the paper said “U.S.” and not “American”. They use the word “US” because the Latins bitched about us calling ourselves “American”.

From what I understand, Ms. Wang is not actually an American citizen but a Chinese student attending college in Durham. She reflects the spirit of Tiananmen Square. Good for her.

As I stated in an earlier post about the Cornell professor, the more some of these folks get away from China (like my cousin) the more their eyes are opened. That’s a good thing for China and the rest of the world.

From what I understand, the PRC has paramilitary agents in every significant ethnic Chinese community in the US. I would not have believed it until I saw the half dozen Chinese government agents on US soil in blue sweats manhandling protesters during the torch run.

Why do Latins bitch about us calling ourselves “American?”

No matter how the Latins complain, we are the Americans. Our culture is the American culture. Few Europeans would call a Peruvian an “American”.

The PRC can’t stand the truth.

“No matter how the Latins complain, we are the Americans. Our culture is the American culture. Few Europeans would call a Peruvian an “American”.

and yet they are as “American” as we are. “South American” to be exact. The reason Europeans call citizens of the US Americans but not citizens of Peru is because United Staticans, or United Staters, or whatever, sounds silly.

Because according to their “education” (BTW, worse than anything in even the worst ghetto school system) “America” refers to the entire continent of “America”.

Here are the fallacies in their idea.

There isn’t an “American” continent. There are two American continents. North America and South America. North America sits on the North American plate and South America sits on the South American plate. Millions of years ago, they were separate continents that weren’t even close to each other.

The founders of the country chose the name “America” before any other country. Hence why we are called “The United States Of America”. Australia was the first country in the Australian continent. People from Papua New Guinea may be on the Australian continent, but are not “Australian”. Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangledesh are on the Indian subcontinent, but they’re not “Indians” only people from India (And the original people of the New World) are known as Indians.

There were other “United States” and united countries but they had denonynyms of the region they were united states of. The people of the United States of Colombia were known as “Colombians”. People from the Federated states of Yap are also known with a denonynym related to the region. Even EU citizens are known as “Europeans” even though half of Europe isn’t in the EU.

And not even all of Central and South America refers to themselves as “Americans” because they think of themselves as a different denononym and let the United States have its own denononym. My family is from the Caribbean, and most Caribbean people refer to people from the United States as “Americans” and refer to the United States as “America”.

It’s just Latin American jealousy towards us, and quite frankly, if they didn’t like us so much, instead of trying to steal our denonynym, they should stop illegally immigrating here.
