I have heard that they are heavily into welfare, with multiple payments to "single mothers" (who are actually plural wives) and so funds pile up in group households. Men in the group also have businesses in construction and so forth - small contractors.
I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the "single mothers" rented their apartments in the compound using Section 8 grants from the government (another source of income to the sect).
