International Olympic Committee chief Jacques Rogge arrives at a press conference for a joint meeting between the Association of National Olympic Committees and the IOC executive board in Beijing. China bluntly told the world Olympics chief Thursday to keep out of politics, in a tart exchange on human rights following days of protests that have shadowed the Olympic torch around the world. China is using the Games to legitimate its totalitarian autocracy and it has the chutzpah to tell the world to mind its own business. ROFL!

It was "not the joyous party that we had wished it to be," Rogge said in Beijing...

Should've thought of that BEFORE you decided to put the Olympics in CHINA.

It’s unfortunate that China can’t keep its promises, the way civilized countries do.

“The Dalai Lama, ...”They really deserve” the Olympics, he said. “In spite of the unfortunate events in Tibet, my position has not changed.”

What the hell is his problem.....never thought it would be appeasement!

China's Ministry of Public Security said it had cracked a terrorist group in its Muslim-dominated northwest...

hmmm...I wonder if anyone is monitoring the civil rights of these terrorist "suspects".

Anyone want to take bets on whether they are getting a Halal meal or access to religious texts?

You point being what? That we should be treating terror suspects the same as the Red Chinese?

As long as they keep up the blatant thuggery, they are easy to classify. If they ever wise up and start talking like Obama, they could get away with much worse.

These clowns didn’t know that China had a corrupt, despotic government when they chose them to host the games?

Let them live with it.

F*ck China. I won’t be watching the Olympics and any firm that advertises on NBC’s coverage of the Olympics will not be on my preferred list of firms to patronize.

He also told a news conference that China -- under fire over a crackdown in Tibet and a host of other issues -- had promised that winning the right to host the Games would lead to an improvement in human rights.

They PROMISED, they PROMISED!! Waaaaa!

Oh well, the EU leaders will boycott their Opening Ceremony and that'll sure show mean ol' CHINA!

Waaaa!!

Not a bad idea, really.

I find myself lately hoping that the Olympics turns into a giant fiasco, leaving much egg on the faces of the Chinese and the IOC.

That should show the world we mean business when we gin up wars for freedom and human rights.

Oh, wait.

Anyone who thinks the protests will end once the games begin, will be sadly mistaken.

I suspect they'll only get larger and more intrusive.

["...the Olympics, which Beijing hoped would showcase its much-touted "peaceful rise" to power..."}

Peaceful rise to power?

"According to Mao: The Unknown Story, "Mao Ze-Dong, who for decades held absolute power over the lives of one-quarter of the world's population, was responsible for well over 70 million deaths in peacetime, more than any other twentieth century leader" and claimed that he was willing for half of China to die to achieve military-nuclear superpowerdom."

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge said the Games were in "crisis" following the demonstrations, and urged China to respect its pledge to improve its rights record before the event begins in August.

You lost control of the Olympics the minute you gave them to a totalitarian regime, Jacques. What part of "totalitarian regime" do leftist drones like you not understand?
