Obama: Repeal of 'don't ask' possible
AP via Yahoo! ^ | 0410/08 | NEDRA PICKLER

Posted on 04/10/2008 3:48:17 AM PDT by Brilliant

Barack Obama says if elected president he will not require that his Joint Chiefs of Staff be opposed to the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that prevents gays from serving openly in the military.

The Democratic presidential front-runner favors repealing the policy, which was instituted during the Clinton administration. He said his priority for the Joint Chiefs will be that they make decisions to strengthen the military and keep the country safe, not their position on the policy.

"I would never make this a litmus test for the Joint Chiefs of Staff," Obama said in an interview with The Advocate, a gay newsmagazine.

"But I think there's increasing recognition within the Armed Forces that this is a counterproductive strategy," he said. "We're spending large sums of money to kick highly qualified gays or lesbians out of our military, some of whom possess specialties like Arab-language capabilities that we desperately need. That doesn't make us more safe."

The Advocate provided The Associated Press with excerpts of the interview, to be posted on its Web site Friday.

The interview comes after Obama was criticized by gay advocates for not speaking to the gay media. The Philadelphia Gay News last week ran a large blank space on its front page next to an interview with Hillary Rodham Clinton to highlight that he did not talk to the publication.

"The gay press may feel like I'm not giving them enough love, but basically all press feels that way at all times," Obama told The Advocate. He said he's frequently spoken out against homophobia and in support of gay rights.

Asked what he could reasonably accomplish for the gay community as president, Obama said he can "reasonably see" repeal of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy as well as signing legislation to ban workplace discrimination against gays. He said he'd like transgendered people to be covered by the law, but thinks it would be tough to get such legislation through Congress.

Obama also said he's interested in ensuring that same-sex couples in civil unions get federal benefits.

Use to be in Viet Nam if you had a real bad officer or higher up sargent you may just kill his sorry butt while in the field.
I guess you’ll see quite a few fags shot while in the field if this goes through.
Course this is just Obamma Lamma Ding Dong playing to his base which includes fags, lesbeans, blacks, and various other stupids or freaks.

I agree with Barack, here. I am utterly opposed to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell."

Let's go back to the original policy: hunt 'em down and kick 'em out!

Oh, wait a minute, that is what he meant by being "opposed to Don't Ask Don't Tell," right?

This is another example of Obama’s naive view of the real world. If he made opposition to “don't ask don't tell” in the sense that one favors homosexuals in the military a litmus test for nomination as a service chief (and thus membership in the JCS) anyone he would get would be a politician in uniform and not a military leader. I wonder if Obama knows who Courtney Massengale was?

Democrats don’t care one lousy bit about foreign policy or our military. They only care about domestic policy because stealing your tax money and doling it out to idiots is how they bribe their way into power.

Bill Clinton cared only about domestic policy. He clowned around with foreign leaders only to enhance his image and look “presidential”. He had his Mid East peace efforts only to build up a legacy. He got a huge ego boost too. But getting power, getting elected and re-elected was always him prime motivation. You do that by pandering to the voters

Obama and Hillary are the same. Complete dunces when it comes to foreign policy. They only care about pandering and giving away Gubbermint goodies to their constituencies like blacks and teachers unions. And legalizing ever damn alien whoever set foot here

Obama has the added advantage of good rhetoric and demagoguery with his politics of hope. Though myself, I think he’s an awful speaker

He is a backseat limo fag... makes sense he would embrace satan in this way... reminds me of a line from a Country song:

“He (was she) came from Heaven... but I know the devil did too”!

He is uncharismatic and an awful speaker... which is why the press works so hard to make him the next “communicator”.

It was the plan all along. Incrementalism. I do not know why a private matter such as this needs to be advertised. Are there going to be separate barracks so GI’s do not have to shower and domicile with same sex members who are attracted to them? I don’t think so. There have always been homosexuals in the military and the schools. Why does it need to be advertised? To what benefit. I am sure I had gay teachers in school. And divorced teachers, and single teachers, and virgin teachers. They were there to do a job, to teach academics, just as GIs are there to do a job, defend our country. Let private matters stay private.

Obuma is on the DownNLow and the policy was put in effect for a reason. I like the old policy where the questionarre was used concerning homosexual tendencies and conduct.

Sensible Americans, know that this type behavior is “conduct prejudice to the good order of discipline in the military.” It causes a breakdown in the morale and discipline for the unit.

If you agree with Obama, my opinion is you are a complete fool of the 100 power.

Did you ever serve in the US Military? Our military keeps our country free and does not need to be “P.C. Corrupted” to fit the communist/marxist agenda of those, who wish to see this great nation fall.

In closing, I believe you need some psychological counseling, coupled with shock treatments. for you are dead wrong on this issue.

Taking a close look at Obama’s history and the people close to him, it’s rational to conclude his goal is to bring down America. He’s going for the vital organs.

To allow openly gay troops in the military will be an important step in his goal.

Mark,
Please accept my apology, I did not read your comments at the bottom of your post.

I see we agree on keeping the fags out of our military. Please excuse my presumptous inital conclusion of your post. The original policy is the best, do not let them in the first place.

Again sorry for not reading your post completely. “Looks like I am the fool on this one.”

Sincerely,
NSNR

Because it advances the homosexual agenda a bit further to whine about “Don’t ask, Don’t tell”, the political interest isn’t to be found in quietly serving honorably, rather it is to be found in using the military to grant mainstream status to homosexuality.

Now for me, the more interesting question is if the Military is forced to implement this policy by Obama (if he wins) should Christians continue to serve in the military?

The Military is first and foremost a Moral institution, it cannot survive without being moral, yet they would have to embrace a clearly Biblically immoral policy by granting official status to homosexuals.

The left thinks tigers are just really big housecats.

The left is clueless even to the point when the enemies of freedom line them up against the wall to shoot them first after a coupe.

Heck... I have worked rooms full of people into frenzies... you just have to know how to “work” a crowd. I am nobody.

I agree that those that love him hear and believe what they want to... he is a blank page upon which one can project whatever image one desires.
