When I was in Germany a few years back, I happened to use that pronunciation in a conversation with some of the Germans I was working with and was politely told that there was no such place..........

:-) You are, of course, aware that German words are pronounced very differently than American words, even if they are spelled the same? Hey, I can't really pronounce German words that well at all, but when I talk, they understand what I'm saying, so it's all good. But I hear in neighboring France, it's much different. That if you don't speak French, they will likely walk away from you. I've been told that Germans may not talk to you if you don't make an attempt to speak in Deutsche, but I haven't had that experience yet.
