Influential Muslim in Defense Department cleared of any wrongdoing
Washington Times via Jihad Watch ^ | 04/05/08 | Bill Gertz

Posted on 04/05/2008 10:30:55 AM PDT by JCG

But were the Action steps recommended here undertaken? It appears that they were not. An update on the Stephen Couglin imbroglio: "Islam cleared," from Bill Gertz's Inside the Ring in the Washington Times (thanks to all who sent this in):
Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon England cleared his special assistant of any wrongdoing related to a run-in with former Joint Staff analyst Stephen Coughlin, and amid questions about the Muslim aide's background.

"The deputy secretary's office has thoroughly reviewed the issues of concern raised by a few members of Congress and the media and has concluded there is no reason to question Cmdr. Hesham Islam's credibility or his allegiance to his country," Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell told Inside the Ring.

Mr. Islam, a retired Navy commander, came under criticism after a meeting last fall with Mr. Coughlin, a leading specialist on the relationship between Islamic law and terrorism, when Mr. Islam told associates that Mr. Coughlin was a "Christian zealot with a pen" because of his hard-line views on the ties between extremism and Islam.

Additionally, journalist Claudia Rosett wrote a National Review Online article questioning Mr. Islam's official biography that had been posted on the official Pentagon Web site and was removed after her article ran.

Miss Rosett noted that Mr. Islam claimed to be in Cairo when it was bombed by Israel in 1967, but there are no records of bombing the Egyptian capital, only the airport near Cairo.

Mr. Islam also claimed to have been on board a freighter sunk by an Iranian torpedo in the Persian Gulf, but that could not be verified.

Investigators determined there are some things that are "unknowable" about Mr. Islam's background.

Some defense security officials said the discrepancies raise concerns because Mr. Islam holds a security clearance.

Mr. England's investigators also denied that Mr. Islam or Mr. England got Mr. Coughlin fired from the contractor position as a Joint Staff analyst, which happened after the contentious meeting between Mr. Islam and the analyst. Mr. Coughlin left the Joint Staff last month and is working for the Office of the Secretary of Defense shop for special operations and low-intensity conflict.

Mr. Morrell said Mr. Islam has assisted Mr. England for the past three years and is "a valuable adviser" who helps with Mr. England's contacts with foreign officials.

Including members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

What the h*ll?  A Muslim in the DoD with a security clearance had a phony biography online until it was pulled and portions of his background are "unknowable" to investigators.  But we're gonna keep him?  This is a crock.

There needs to be firings at Defense and Gordon England should head the parade.

It's even worse than I thought.  On rereading the article I see this: Mr. England's investigators also denied that Mr. Islam or Mr. England got Mr. Coughlin fired from the contractor position as a Joint Staff analyst, which happened after the contentious meeting between Mr. Islam and the analyst.

The investigators are England's!  How crazy is that?

Rep. Peter Hoekstra, Michigan Republican and ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, was one of the three who had asked Mr. England to look into Mr. Islam's background.

Who were the other two?

Why was Gordon England's investigators the ones to investigate Islam? Should this not be investigated by persons not connected by Islams boss?

Should we ask Rep. Hoekstra this question?

Where are the cowardly, so called, "Republicans" in Congress in demanding a hearing on this entire fiasco?

Of course, like almost everyone else in D.C. (Including the Oval Office) taking the PC, path of least resistance and refusing to take any steps which would "upset" the "moderate" (i.e., those who support, but don't openly advocate our destruction) moozies.

Sheesh.

Let’s see, now.

Where’s Geert Wilders? Ah, yes, his government is prosecuting him for linking violent jihad to Koranic doctrine and protesting the Islamization of Europe in a movie.

Where’s Susanne Winter of the Austrian parliament? Ah, yes, she’s under indictment from her government which could put her into prison for two years - because she spoke out against the Islamization of Austria.

Where’s Frank VanHecke of the Brussels parliament? Ah, yes, he was beaten up and arrested by his own Brussels police at an anti-Islamization rally - and is now being prosecuted by his own government to strip him of his EU parliamntary membership and all rights to be politically active.

Ah, and where’s Brigitte Bardot? Ah, yes, she’s on trial for the fifth time for “inciting racial hatred.” She’s charged with writing a letter to Sarkoczy, protesting the Muslim invasion of France and what it has done to their culture. Bardot faces a hefty fine of $22,000.00 and a “suspended” two month incarceration - for writing a letter.

France’s Muslim population, only about 8% of the total French populace, has already killed free speech there, via last year’s rioting.

I do not know what the percentages of total populations in the Netherlands, Austria and Belgium are. I do know that it does not require a majority to subdue and subjugate the rights of free men. All it takes is a violent minority and a lot of spineless elected officials who would rather punish the true patriots than fight the aggressors and oppressors.

Europe is lost. What now, America? We have 7,000,000 Muslims living here now. That constitutes about 2 1/3% of our population. How long until the organized en-masse violence begins in earnest here?

Pretty much sums it up. When Hesham Islam told associates that Mr. Coughlin was a “Christian zealot with a pen”, the Muslim POS with an agenda wasn’t involved in hate speech was he?
