Superintendent's orders to worried dad: Butt out!
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | ril 04, 2008 | Bob Unruh

The superintendent of a public school that sparked a federal lawsuit by teaching homosexuality to children as young as kindergarten has told another worried parent he can review course material, but he has no right to withdraw his child from class during lessons.

The lawsuit, on which WND has reported extensively, was filed by David Parker, whose child was in a class at Estabrook Elementary in Lexington, Mass.

Parker's strenuous objection to not being notified when lessons concerning homosexuality were presented landed him in jail overnight. His subsequent lawsuit resulted in a court verdict that essentially concludes parents have no rights to control what their children are taught.

The court ruling adopted the arguments submitted by several pro-homosexual organizations that stated they had rights to children in public schools. However, Parker has confirmed for WND the case is being prepared for appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court because of the far-reaching impacts of the ruling.

Unless the case is overturned, Parker told WND, "it now would allow teachers in elementary schools to influence children into any views they wanted to, behind the backs of parents, to a captive audience, and against the will of the parents if need be."

In the latest confrontation, publicized by the traditional values advocates at Mass Resistance, Lexington Supt. Paul Ash told a parent who also wanted to be advised when homosexuality was being taught to children that the school would not cooperate.

Time to chop the roots of the government school tree.

Government schools needs to be closed and private schools opened. The Trillions used to keep these government schools running should be used to fund the private schools so they can compete with each other and parents can determine where they want their child to attend school. Schools need competition as do all other business.

This will continue until voters stop electing Democrats or RINO’s, and reducing the power of the teacher’s unions and state legislatures in our lives.

Conservatives have to shoulder much of the blame for this because we have not done a good job educating voters or supporting conservatives running for office.

So, tell me exactly why any sane parent sends their offspring to such a haven of deceit and statism?

Oh, yeah, because they can....

The way you tell the school to butt out is to remove your children, enroll in a private school of your choice, or homeschool, if your state says you cannot, then MOVE.

Wake up parents, it is your personal responsibility before God and your own conscience, to insure your children are taught what is right.

Trust the government? May as well just find a hood, a perv, a druggie and a shyster, pay them and let them indoctrinate your child, same as what public schools are doing.

Home school or private school has a cost-but I assure you, is far less than than the value you will lose by watching your chldren become state manipulated.

God Bless

Boy are you right. That’s why we’ve homsechooled our 4 children. There’s no way I handing my children over to someone who can influence their minds for 6 hours a day 180 day’s a year. Perhaps 50 years ago you could with some confidence in shared values with the teacher, but today... no way. It’s been a sacrifice and a difficult one, but with two in college right now and doing great, it’s been well worth it. We might not have much, but we saved our children. We have friends that have lost their’s.

Close the government indoctrination camps (i.e.public schools) and replace them with private competition based schools.

And what's new about this? Pretending to be shocked is disingenuous, Mr. Parker. When are you going to do something practical about your child's education?

This correctly stated comment must have had Kalifornia in mind!

Understood, but sadly most voters don’t know what a socialist is. We don’t teach or preach the evils of socialism and communism anymore, either.

Every major city in America that has urban problems, and low graduation rates, is run by Democrats. Yet we are not unified in defeating them. Denver is just as bad, IMHO.

That is one option but then the question becomes if people simply keep enrolling their kids in private schools or moving instead of standing up to the socialists then what is to stop the spread of the socialism to public schools, private schools and home schooling in all states? It seems to me at some point people have to stand their ground and fight socialism head on.

Elementary school teachers cannot pick and chose the curriculum that they teach to their students. That is the job of the school committee and the commonwealth to a larger extent (MA curriculum frameworks). Homosexuality is not a course taught in Lexington school system, it is a small part of a diversity curriculum that the school has adopted.

Parents who want this curriculum removed (as it is not mandated by the commonwealth’s DOE) need to submit their argument to their school committee members — who can be voted out of office if they chose to ignore their constituents.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Actually, the government has MUCH more influence over your child than 6 hours a day. Let's examine a typical schooled child's day:

There is the bus ride.
The after school activities.
The government issued homework, reading assignments, and textbook.
And,,,finally all the time spent with government school friends in and out of the government indoctrination camp.

The actual time that the parent has one on one with a child during a school day is really very little.

The child must sleep 9 to 11 hours a day depending on his age.

There is the early morning “get ready for the school bus” rush. That surely isn't quality time.

An hour or 2 riding the bus.

Time outside to play (Finally, the child gets some time to move his body after being imprisoned in school and on the school bus.)

Homework.

If adults need time to relax so do children. So... The child will need time to watch TV or chat with friends on the Internet or phone.

So?....Just exactly when is there time for a parent to “deprogram” a child? The truth is there is precious little time. The government owns most of the child's time.
