Yeah...that's why I drink it. To help my brain.
Yeah, that's the ticket. I'm Albert...Eiiiinstein.

It’s been a while since I googled that subject, but as I recall, there are a lot of studies that concluded caffeine causes no significant increase in BP.

The sugar in the half and half probably isn’t good for many people. Get used to black coffee!

Follow up on my last post:

Back in the late-eighties I was looking into diets for myself. I did not like how low fat diets changed my temper. I picked up a copy of Low Fat Lies by Kevin Vigilante MD and Mary Flynn PhD. There in chapter 7 they specifically id'd my own body type, high blood flow, fast clotter (just the kind you want taking cuts in battle!) -- and warned in grave terms of the dangers of a low-fat diet for such a type.

Then in Chapter 5 they warn of the artery-clogging high risks of small LDL, small oxidized LDL.

Well, I looked up what were dietary sources of small oxided LDL and I recollect finding that the flash heat milk drying process was a biggie. I can not now find a cite on my shelf, or quickly on Goggle. But it is clear in my memory.

The dried milk powder is a protein source -- it is used in all sorts of places. Skim milk is one. Since it is non-fat the skim milk stays skim, but gets extra body from the milk solids. Milk powder is also used in hot dogs, many health bars, protein supplements. I avoid them all the the plague. My heart is in good shape, just had a cardiogram. No clogging to speak of.

...Caffeine is a safe and readily available drug...

Then for god's sake, we must now have a government run program to provide it to the less fortunate. Now that it has a medical application, it has to be an entitlement.

That’s what was missing - the alcohol!

Actually, I don’t put sugar in it. I love half and half, though, and could just sit down and drink the stuff straight, although I usually resist doing so. Of course, after Carrot-and-Stick’s suggestion, maybe what I really want is a Brandy Alexander to start my day...

Lol, I get the confusion- you were referring to ‘half-and-half’ as the dairy creamer.

I mistook that for a drink made of two spirits, thinking you like to have coffee and alcohol early in the morning. Hence, the picture.

:^)

Life is starting to imitate Sleeper

I need to watch that one again. Some great lines

I love where Diane Keaton says, "Do you believe they actually cut saturated fats out of their diet?" or something like that.

"I believe that there's an intelligence to the universe, with the exception of certain parts of New Jersey."

Some possible health benefits of fresh coffee in the morning:

Some studies have shown that people who drink two cups of coffee per day (at least) have a much lower risk of gallstones.

Caffeine helps open up the bronchial airways, helping people who have asthma, or allergies, for instance. If I recall correctly, caffeine is related to theophylline.

Some studies have shown that very fresh coffee, within 20 mins of brewing, has a high level of antioxidants, compared in some instances to the level in broccoli.

Disclaimer: I am a coffee lover, have been since I was a little child, and so I tend to remember good things about coffee (beside the fact that I love very fresh, very strong, Costa Rican coffee).

Now that I find it helps the brain (it DOES wake you up) I am even happier with my daily quota.

Life is starting to imitate Sleeper- you wake up in the future and discover everything you were taught was bad for you is actually beneficial...

I'll believe that when my Orgasmatron arrives in the mail.

When I lived in Tampa, I used to get this bean called “Kenya AA”. Man that stuff would light you up in the morning.

Ritilin and other drugs for ADHD are stimulants.

Interesting. I didn't know that.

Caffeine also elevates blood pressure, so I reckon caffeinated coffee drinkers will have a clear idea of what’s happening to them as their stroke hits them...
