Pssst . . . . I think Jean S is an admin moderator.

I was responding to someone whose handle is Jean S

I am a mod and have been a mod since early 2002. I thought that posting under my regular name would be more helpful and kinder. Sorry, I'll defer to the other mods on this in the future. I was just trying to help Pookie.

No sweat.

I am always wary when an identity changes in the middle of a conversation. It’s like having a debate with a friend who happens to be your boss, who suddenly becomes your boss who may be a friend, if you know what I mean.

I generally like people to defend their positions on the basis upon which they started. If you replied that Pookie has gotten us sued, threatened to be sued, warned, censored, advised, monitored, or whatever to support your original position, then I’m more informed as a result. If you reply that you, as an Admin Moderator, are privy to information that shows Pookie’s ‘toons place FR at risk (and by extension it’s members who are supporters), then I am more informed as a result.

Being more informed, and generally being rational, I can apply economic principles, and support either the your argument that Pookie is putting our money and forum at risk, or the one that says that Pookie pushes the edge of the envelope once in a while, but is functionally harmless.

But when the identity shifts from Jean S to Admin Moderator, then I don’t know if this represents the entry of another person, or a retreat to an authoritarian position, replete with power, but maybe lacking in substance.

and then all of a sudden

It was not "all of a sudden".

If pookie wants to quit, fine, but he has a hell of a lot of nerve complaining that the mods sprung this on him out of the blue. He has been asked before to comply with copyright restrictions rules.

Sorry, I meant “all of a sudden” in the context of this thread.

I can not be aware of the interactions of Pookie and the moderators except where one of the parties has posted it, as you just did.

And don’t get me wrong on my last post. It was not to pick a fight, but rather to give my take on “changing clothes” during a discussion.

I’m just an average Joe trying to make sense of the world around me. FR just happens to be a big chunk of that world.
