Thank you for that post and for everything you’ve done for these Marines!
I am not, and never have been, a Marine, but quite frankly that image brought a smile to my face. Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to be made happy on this deal. I'll settle for all the Marines involved getting acquitted, or at least their charges dismissed with prejudice, like Tatum's.
WRM, MSgt, USAF(Ret.)
Whichever, this'd be a good time for him to retire and write a book blowing this thing wide open, so that it never happens again.
Not only that, but when you mess with a Marine, you mess with his or her whole family. Cindie
How do we get an EARMARK to reimburse these Marines and their Families for the egregious costs they have been forced to bear by an out-of-control propaganda-fueled prosecution pursued by an over-reaching home-grown insurgent gang in our government?
How do we get their good name back ? These men are owed a debt from all AMERICANS . Semper Fi
Mattis had an easy choice to make when Ware recommended dismissing the charges. Mattis instead made a head-shakingly disappointing choice and ended up with a fourth star. No matter what the truth is, that looks really, really bad.
Your opinion on Post #14?
It may not have been his choice.
Thanks for the pings.
I’d like one with about 16 teufelhunden on his heels.
The comments from Josh White of the Washington Post were the most surprising from the Frontline documentary. His analysis said a lot about how the tide had turned in the media spin cycle. It was always about the Rules of Engagement, not a “Massacre”.
a) Over ride the IO's recommendation, send Tatum to court martial and step aside while the men in black take over - and OBTW, here's a 4th star to take with you.
or
b) Become the 4th senior officer who gets publicly censured, along with a myriad of specious charges for making statements like "It's fun to kill terrorists", threats to bankrupt through litigation just like they did his men, and otherwise play Pin the Tail on the General, leaving him broke and too old to start a career selling shammies on TV.
Maybe he took the offer that Lt. Grayson refused, to fall on his sword for the "good" of the Marines.
I don't know. I don't know how far past Winters this all went - it all started shortly after he was appointed, and he's left a trail that a herd of wild pigs would be proud of.
I always thought dumping Rummy was forced on Bush, as in Reid and Pelosi weren't going to come up with another dime for the war unless Bush dumps him - there may have been other, more dubious conditions, like a Pentagon shadow agency to "clean up" (wipe out) our image in the ME, and now having "forced" these concessions, they are leaking the existence of the "Illegal Rumsfield/Bush Secret Shadow Government" to further undermine our efforts.
It's probably just my imagination, but isn't the MSM and Left side of congress a little slow on the pickup on this Rummy Shadow scandal? If the left didn't have anything to do with it's creation, you'd think they'd be on it like stink on Murtha.
Where's the cries for a full congressional investigation?
Hmmmm
That is an awesome list, RR.
I was watching a show on history channel about the Marines in Tarawa (sp) in WWII. In short, they kept firing until they were sure everyone was dead. It was the only way to be safe.
With extremely rare exceptions, it still is.
Assuming an enemy is a prisoner, that a room is clear, that a civilian is harmless, will all get you killed. In the insanity of war, violence is what is sane. The ultimate ethic is to bring yourself and your buddies home alive.
What is insane is sacrificing your life by going soft, so some politician doesn’t lose points in the next opinion poll.
Just so each one from Haditha and Hamdania gets a fair chance to chew his ass.
I meant to address 77 to you as well.
