I was raised on poetry. My mom grew up in the dustbowl, and they had no electric out on the farm. So she was raised on classic lit. She passed that love onto me.
It’s amazing to me nowadays, that people don’t know “The Village Blacksmith” or “The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere”.
When I was in kindergarden, a friend gave me the “Golden Book of Poetry” edited by Louis Untermeyer. To this day it remains my favorite book. The pictures by Joan Walsh Anglund, and collecting of poems into age levels and topics - I read it until the covers fell off and then bought another.
The chapters I started were Humor, the Wide wonderful world, and Animals and fantasy, and eventually worked up to the philosophical and historical. It’s one of the best selections I’ve ever seen. They have everything from Lewis Carroll to Stevenson to Frost to yes, Riley.
If anyone wants to get a childhood poetry book, I highly recommend this one. You have to get it used, on ebay or such because it is OOP.
Seinfeld. George had left a tape recorder in a briefcase when he left a meeting in order to hear what others had said about him when he left. I think the episode is called “Soul Mates.”
Interesting. Of course, some company in the United States will produce a pre-existing patent on this technology and sue the estate.

Not long ago I got a DVD out of the library which contained 40+ short films made in France over a hundred years ago. I found these audio recordings more interesting. Sounds like the inventor of this should have developed a playback technique to refine the recording technique. ;’)

Thanks Blam. Just adding to the catalog, not sending a general distribution. |
