State Democratic party officials touted a record-level four million registered Democratic voters in anticipation of the upcoming primary on April 22. The Philadelphia suburbs and the state's central region, including counties where Republicans still outnumber Democrats, had some of the highest proportions of party-switchers.
Bill Meck, a resident of a Philadelphia suburb, remarked that after 41 years of voting Republican, he recently registered with the Democratic party.
.....county voter registration officials in central Pennsylvania told ABCNews.com that many new registrants spoke openly about changing their party affiliation to give McCain "a better shot in November."
Officials in Perry and Northumberland counties in central Pennsylvania told ABCNews.com that quite a few new registrants said they were switching to help the Republican party in the fall. Both counties are historically conservative, having voted for Bush in 2004 in wide margins, but the number of voters changing their party affiliation to Democrat this year is proportionally large.....
The pattern echoes the Republican crossovers in the run-up to the Texas and Ohio primaries, which some political experts attributed to calls from conservatives like Rush Limbaugh for Republicans to register and vote for Sen. Hillary Clinton to prevent Obama from locking up the nomination and prolong the spectacle of the two Democratic candidates attacking each other.

The amazing success of Operation Chaos continues.
I personally think all this is unethical. I don’t like dems meddling in our primaries and I won’t meddle in theirs. My husband, though a democrat, intends to vote for McCain in the fall and he voted for Pres. Bush in 2004. He’s been a dem his whole life and will vote for Hillary in the primary because he thinks that as bad as she is, Obama is far more dangerous. But that’s legit because he’s a dem. I will vote for McCain in the primary.
I have to quit doubting Rush so often.....
And ABC became creditible when?!?
McCain has the election wrapped up no matter who the Republicans pick to be the Democrat nominee.
I wonder if the ... “ahem” ... “legitimate” news media will report on the record surge of Republican registrations after the primaries conclude?
“Since April 22 Republican registrations have surged some 40,000 statewide”
Rush, you demented genius.
I think it is unethical to allow the liberals to toy with our nonmnation process ithout us retaliating in kind. Without any retaliation, then the same tactics continue.... to our detriment.
I don’t know what is the most entertaining spectacle caused by Operation Chaos. The prolonged Hillary-Obama slugfest or the MSM whining about Operation Chaos.
Nah because the whole ballgame for Obama and Hillary right now are the superdelegates. Hillary needs to win PA to bolster her case to them.
Operation Chaos continues apace.
Very frightening reasoning.
>> Bill Meck...remarked that after 41 years of voting Republican, he recently registered with the Democratic party.
wink wink nudge nudge
It’s pretty funny.
I hear what you’re saying.
But here in Minnesota, we don’t have a Presidential primary election. We do hold primary election for state and federal offices. It’s an open primary where you don’t have to declare party affiliation.
I have, on a number of occasions, crossed over and voted in the Dem primary to vote for the least electable Democrat on the ballot.
Or considering my district is strongly Democrat, I have crossed over and voted for a Democrat who only makes me sick 80% of the time as opposed to a Dem who makes me sick 100% of the time.
Sometimes it has worked and other times, not so much.
both specticals are great. It’s like a Double-Feature.
