“those who think that furiners investing in Texas roads is a transgression are ignoring reality.”

You know , from past discussions, the foreign ownership/lease of the toll roads is only a fraction of the problem I have with the TTC and toll roads in general.

My sympathies are with the populace and that loyalty won't change no matter how much cash is shaken in our faces.

“In the SA Express article yesterday, the head of the teacher retirement fund says that they can make a better return investing in China’s roads.”

What do you expect from a bunch of Socialists?

On second thought, they can )shove( their money.

You have put your finger on the problem.

There are numerous objections to TTC, and those who object for the numerous and various reasons can unite in their objections to oppose TTC.

But those that unite to object, can not unite to propose an alternative. If they try to unite to propose an alternative, they turn on each other.

Expand on existing footprints and they'll piss off a lot fewer people. And mostly the people who can afford the disruption and expense.

McReynolds used the phrase "cherished property".

Do you think the man that owns the land that adjoins the existing road "cherishes" his property less than anyone else?

“Do you think the man that owns the land that adjoins the existing road “cherishes” his property less than anyone else?”

I knew this lady once whose grandparents own several hundred acres along I-35 near Temple.

She was convinced she would be a millionaire one day when it was sold. She did *cherish* that land but, I’m not sure it made anyone a millionaire.

Those who sell their land by the sq ft “cherish” more than those who sell by the acre.
