Barack Obama's campaign tossed around nearly $600 at Tiffany's last month - for a trinket that remains a secret.
Obama's team tapped his flush campaign bank account to pay the $572.25 tab at the famed jeweler last month, recently released federal fund-raising records show.
When asked about the curious expenditure, campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said, "That was mistakenly charged to a campaign credit card and the money has been refunded to the campaign."
Psaki insisted that the senator did not make the purchase himself but she refused to say whether the gift was in any way connected to him or his family.

Did Obama buy Michelle jewelry with campaign money? His campaign should answer that question. New York governor Paterson is being scrutinized for the same reason. Will media darling Obama be subjected to the same standard?

$572.25 doesn’t buy all that much at Tiffany’s.

I went to Tiffany's site and did a search for "Under $600" and got No items match your search criteria.

Gotta be kidding me. Nobody cared when Mrs. Klinton was using AF One and military C-9 & C-21 jets as her personal charter service to go all over Europe, Asia, and Australia to give a token speech and then spend the rest of the week shopping with her daughter.
Now people suddenly care that Obama used $600 to buy jewelry for his wife (if it's even true)? In general, how much campaign money (for all candidates) goes to buy the staff steak dinners, fine wines, and expensive hotel stays? I'm not condoning it, I just find it interesting that people suddenly care.

Maybe they are running the same search program as FR’s.
There are some items under that amount; I know, because at Christmas I bought a necklace from there for for someone special. :)

At what point is Free Republic going to be renamed Obama Republic? When will there be the multiple postings about Obama passing gas or reports of the number of sheets of toilet paper he uses?
