From Clinton, new pressure for a revote in Michigan

DETROIT: With plans for new primaries in Florida and Michigan in limbo, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton challenged Senator Barack Obama on Wednesday to accept at least a new contest in Michigan, arguing that he should match his "words with action" because a civil rights principle was at stake.

Clinton added a quick stop at a union hall here to throw down a gauntlet before Obama in hopes of pressuring him to support a proposed June 3 primary in Michigan, where some lawmakers describe his resistance as a key obstacle to a revote.

In hopes of bolstering the Michigan plan, two Clinton allies, Governor Jon Corzine of New Jersey and Governor Edward Rendell of Pennsylvania, released a letter saying they had lined up 10 guarantors who would pledge up to $12 million to cover the estimated costs of rerunning the primary.

Clinton framed her remarks in the context of voting rights, a day after Obama, of Illinois, delivered a speech about race in America that drew approving reviews from his supporters and many political analysts. Her comments in Detroit, in turn, drew cheers and applause from an ethnically diverse crowd of 250.

"It is a bedrock American principle that we are all equal in the voting booth," said Clinton, of New York. "It has been a long struggle to get to the point where barriers have been knocked down and doors opened."

Before Clinton spoke, the Obama campaign issued a memorandum from one of its campaign lawyers, Robert Bauer, who raised several questions about a Michigan do-over. "No one disputes that the election will have to be hurriedly prepared," he wrote. "And it is further accepted that it is, in material respects, unprecedented in conception and proposed structure."

Clinton wants the Michigan do-over

In do-over Hillary will definitely increase her margin and # of delegates. If Obama resists and prevents do-over he gives a hell lot of ammunition against himself - the last thing that he needs. Also, there is no chance that Democrats will be able to keep MI and FL delegation off convention. Either way you look at this - Hillary gains.

Hey, Ed, what about the letter I released last September. What about the failure to report money? What about lying to the voters for Hillary? What about the attempted bribe of Aaron Tonken? What about the government actually having Tonken wear a wire for a conversation with you.

It is called massive brute-force HYPOCRISY. The trademark of the radical, liberal, socialist left. They will do or say ANYTHING TO ANYONE AT ANY COST to America or anyone in it, FOR POWER. They are basically criminals trying to steal America and turn it into a socialist dung heap they can stand on top of....

Hillary's early mentor, radical Saul Alinksy, would truly be pleased with his protege. Here she is fulfilling his greatest dream and instruction to exploit the rules in order to get what you want even if the majority of the people do not support you. Very good for stalinist radical, Hillary.

We have a track record of the Clintons egregious, willful and capricious skirting the rule of law. Laws, rules, regulations don't apply to them, these are to be exploited for your own personal gain.

Obviously, her word, oath or written agreement is meaningless. This all shows her disdainful arrogance and untrustworthiness. She is so pompous thinking these minor rules do not apply to her and should not in any way impede her clawing for power.

She is turning this Michigan re-do around so not to pin-point the fact that she violated the DNC's Rule, but to make it into a voter disenfranchisement issue.

Moreover, when private citizens put up money to pay for the cost of the primary re-do, they are wanting to see an outcome for which they will not want to be cheated of receiving for their contribution. Naturally, the results should be viewed as suspect for fraud and manipulation.

Hillary should be disenfranchised of her cheating and swindling to steal a nomination.

Gee, I can’t believe that brainiac Howard Dean hasn’t figured this one out yet. It would be simple. Just tell them that Florida and Michigan will revote in the primaries on Feb 5, 2009. That should keep them happy until they figure it out after the election.

Hillary is unlikely to overtake Obama in delegates or popular vote though, even with FL and MI, so I don’t really understand why he objects to it.

Maybe Hillary will offer to pay for a re-do. Could be a cheap way to buy the nomination.

Hillary is obsessed with becoming POTUS and she is relentless, like the terminator.

She could still win the Rat nomination thanks in part to her Rush-inspired Texas “victory” (although Obama won more delegates)

If Hillary wins the Rat nomination, she will shred McCain to bits.

“Hillary is unlikely to overtake Obama in delegates or popular vote though, even with FL and MI, so I don’t really understand why he objects to it.”

Double foolish, since FL and MI voters aren’t likely to forget he opposed their votes being counted. All Hillary has to do is make a big scene about how the votes should be counted, and she’s won that particular psychological battle. She understands, where the Obamites apparently do not, that the Dem nominee most likely *must* win FL to win the election.

Shouldn’t there be a lawsuit by a number of Republicans who might have wanted to PARTICIPATE in the Democrat primary but who didn’t because their votes would be disenfranchised?!

I think so.
