Dean: Elect a Democratic President to Bring Our Troops Home March 19, 2008
Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement on the fifth anniversary of the war in Iraq:
"Over the past five years our nation has lost 4,000 brave Americans, more than 29,000 wounded, and still our troops are caught in the middle of a civil war in Iraq. As our brave men and women in uniform admirably continue to risk their lives, the Iraqis have failed to make the political progress needed to sustain peace.
"On this solemn anniversary, Americans around the country are asking themselves: how much longer will President Bush and John McCain keep our troops in Iraq? How many more brave Americans must die? And how many more trillions of dollars will we borrow and spend before our troops come home?
"We were misled into a war in which the President has continuously cherry-picked the facts and ignored the realities on the ground, with John McCain walking in lockstep to support a failed strategy in Iraq. Now Senator McCain refuses to acknowledge the lack of political progress, or outline a plan for a way forward that will bring our troops home.
"As we look to elect a new president this November, the choice for voters is clear. If you want to end the war in Iraq and bring our troops home responsibly, elect a Democrat. If you want a 100 year war in Iraq, vote for John McCain."
Yeah, vote Democrat to bring the troops home-with their tails between their legs.
Elect a loser to turn America into a loser. Good work, dems.
Elect a Democrat President to install radical socialism, anti-Americanism, anti-Constitutionalism, anti-freedom and liberty, negativism, victimization, defeatism and political cowardice toward the United Nations, as the hallmark of the United States of America.
Since we are winning we should bring them home before we complete the job. Eewaaaaa!
Do you want us to bring them home so we can send them back several years later to clean up a worse mess than allowing them to finish the job right?
Gee, I thought we already tried that in Iraq in the 1990's. Worked out really well, didn't it?
P.S. How about bringing the troops home from Kosovo and letting the Russians deal with it?
I saw a recent national poll where Ralph Nader was getting 6 percent of the vote and, coincidentally, McCain was beating Hilabeast by 6 points.
Ah, life is good.
McGovern 2.0 this year.
Yup. Bring our troops home so they can fight the terrorists on our shores!
This is just so much hogwash. If the Dems really wanted to end the war, they could de-fund it this very moment. But they’re not doing it and they never will. They know it would be political suicide for their entire party. Dean’s howling is nothing but throwing a fake bone to the hard Left in order to get their support in November.
“I saw a recent national poll where Ralph Nader was getting 6 percent of the vote and, coincidentally, McCain was beating Hilabeast by 6 points.”
Got a phone call last night from an Obama supporter. Wanted to know who I was voting for (I’m registered Independent). I told her Ralph Nader. There was stunned silence. Made my day.
The DNC needs a song (WITH a matching video) entitled
“surrender now, surrender every time.”
The Democrat Party: we surrender...
But I thought if they elected a democrat congress the troops would come home, thats what the political ads claimed hmmmmm
Howie needs the troops to guard the Denver convention from the riot his incompetence is going to cause.
Keep talking, Howard, and folks will RUN, not walk, to the polls to defeat the defeatists.
I thought giving them the House & Senate majority was supposed to get the troops home.
