He did it at low cost. How's the government supposed to compete with that? Like public housing, the government will get into snuffing us, eventually, but it will have to be on it's own expensive terms. In short, the government doesn't like competition.

I fear that's true, as society is less and less concerned about what people themselves want...and keeps going with this "we know better than you" attitude of "life at all costs" or "you'd be better off dead" or "you cost too much" or "life is precious...embrace your agony" or ...

Every aspect of society is marching into statism, it seems.
