I’ve been mailing letters since the 60’s. States always had 2 letter abreviations.

I remember my state as being MASS and i’m only 40.
(only, lol)
Maybe it was officially MA but as far as I know people used MASS for a long time.
I can’t even recall when it went to the two letters.
