The Clintons are trying to steal the nomination from Barack Obama and he can't let them.
The Clintons' campaign attacks put Obama in a bind. If he doesn't answer in kind, he's toast. But if he does, they'll have forced him off his winning message of hope and change from the bitter politics of the Bill Clinton and George W. Bush eras.
If they pull him off his game and onto theirs, they can wrest away the Democratic convention victory that he's earned. The solution for Obama is clear: Reply in kind, but do it through surrogates.
Obama must answer Hillary's negative attacks and make counter punches of his own to rock her back on her heels. His holier-than-thou posture is fine for the opening stages of a campaign, but when your opponent starts throwing mud, you've got to answer.
While Hillary takes aim at Obama's buddy, Tony Rezko, the Obama people need to explore the dimensions of Hillary's relationship with con artist Norman Hsu, who donated almost a million dollars to her campaign, money he'd scammed from gullible investors. Obama needs to enlist the likes of Ted Kennedy and his other supporters in making the case against Hillary.
After her victories in Texas and Ohio, Hillary is once again in play. Negatives about her matter. A full frontal assault on her integrity and on Bill's conflicts of interest (remember they have joint finances) will work and will stop the bleeding in the Obama campaign.
The Clintons would like nothing better than for Obama to remain passive, clinging to his desire to raise the tone of our politics.
If Sen. Clinton resorts to negative ads in the remaining primary states, Obama needs to do so, too, always keeping himself off camera and using an announcer to articulate his message.
As long as his attacks center on Hillary's and Bill's financial dealings and their relationships with lobbyists and special-interest groups, he will remain on message and his attacks will be in sync with his general approach to the race.
But Obama must make no mistake it's time to fight back.
Hillary successfully stealing the nomination is the best assurance of a McCain victory in November. The backlash will rock the Dems to their (hollow) core.
Right you are! Rat-on-Rat fRATricide is the ideal outcome of all this.
This was apparently written before the Mississippi primary where Obama thrashed Hillary(god I just love to watch her lose), again. lol
Good times.
Man, that is so Dick Morris.
In a way, he's kind of refreshing. Most weasly politicos like to pretend they're forthcoming and honest up front. The toe-licker doesn't even bother with pretending.
And fortunately, the Beast at least attempting to steal the nomination is money in the bank. There is simply no way on God's green earth that she isn't going to try.
Democrats have a major dilemma:
should they vote for a nut with two boobs or a boob with two nuts.
It is better to stay alive to fight another day....
McCain, and by extension the Republican’s only hope is that Hillary gets the nomination, not Barack Obama. If the toe sucker got one right every once in a while, he’d know that. Since Obama is far to the left of Hillary, I don’t see an Obama victory as a good thing for America by any means, especially given Obama’s close association with racists, bigots, anarchists, America haters, and extremist leftists that make Hillary look like a member of the John Birch Society.
Like Sinbad; that WaPo interview was a hoot
“should they vote for a nut with two boobs or a boob with two nuts.”
LOL.
but you know if obama fights back, hillary will fight back even harder. and with surrogates
Other than that, Moris is a has-been with 0 credibility.
And you know she’d do it, too. After the sort of stuff she’s pulled so far, I can’t picture Obama appointing her as VP (if she’d even take it if he did). And that’ll just tick her off even more. And we’ve already seen plenty of signs that she’d rather McCain win this time than Obama so she can face him in four years (such as her comments about how she has a lot of experience, McCain has a lot of experience, and Obama only has a speech).
Expect her to be smiling at Obama to his face while stabbing him in the back.
The real problem is the Dems have almost completely destroyed the electoral process, and crippled faith in democracy. It’s no longer about the People picking those with the best ideas, it’s all about power and lies and elitism.
I thought that Morris said a few days ago that it’s over for Hillary.
