Conservatives Say Good Riddance to an 'Anti-Family' Politician
CNS News ^ | March 11, 2008 | Susan Jones

Posted on 03/11/2008 6:23:10 AM PDT by NYer

New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, has riled conservatives for years, and news of his self-induced downfall has produced "widespread disgust," according to one pro-family group.

Just last month, another conservative group sought prayers to stop Spitzer's pro-abortion crusade.

"More than any governor, Spitzer has tried to destroy the man-woman marriage definition and to license homosexual 'marriages,' Randy Thomasson, president of the California-based Campaign for Children and Families, said on Monday.

"As Attorney General, he harassed pro-life crisis pregnancy centers," Thomasson said, noting that as news was breaking about Spitzer's alleged involvement in a prostitution ring, Spitzer was scheduled to speak to New York's largest pro-abortion organization, Family Planning Advocates. Thomasson said the group supports unlimited tax-funded abortions, without regard to a girl's age or the number of tax-funded abortions in a calendar year.

"Spitzer has embraced anti-family public policies since day one," said Thomasson. "Is it any surprise that his so-called 'private' policies are also destructive to his own family? His immoral practices have made him unfit for public office. It's sad that his wife stood next to him, instead of distancing herself to show her real hurt and disapproval."

Thomasson said a person's character and private life do matter. "What is inside eventually shows on the outside. The reason that America is disgusted with the alleged prostituting lifestyle of Eliot Spitzer is because America's moral compass is still working. Fortunately, the United States has not forgotten how to blush."

'May God intervene...'

Last month, a conservative group made Gov. Spitzer one of its "prayer team targets."

The Family Research Council warned on Feb. 28 that Spitzer was preparing for the possible reversal of Roe v. Wade by pushing for a state law that would declare abortion to be a "fundamental right" for women.

The FRC described Gov. Spitzer as a "long-time abortion advocate who rose to power with support from NARAL and Planned Parenthood."

Moreover, in 2002, while serving as New York attorney general, Spitzer "embarked upon a failed effort to close down New York's Crisis Pregnancy Centers, planning to charge them with practicing medicine without a license." Spitzer was forced to back down under public pressure, the FRC noted.

Then came the FRC's prayer pitch: "May God intervene to stop Governor Spitzer from succeeding in this evil ambition to make abortion a "fundamental right" in New York! May pro-life New Yorkers somehow prevail, even as they did when he pursued Crisis Pregnancy Centers in 2002! May New Yorkers arise and stir their neighbors to understand the consequences of pursuing this course, and may this bill be defeated!" the FRC wrote on Feb. 28.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Typical arrogant, self-serving, wannabe tyrant.

Well, Gov...every bit of your sordid dealings should be leaked to the press and you should get a triple dose of your own medicine.

Then...it's hard time for vice crime.

Exactly.

Eliot Spitzer lived by the sword. Now he’ll “die” by the sword.

He must have thought he was bullet-proof or made of Teflon.

I can’t think of a better person for all this to happen to.

Bye, bye Prince Elliot! Don’t let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you!

On another note, I feel very sorry for his wife and children and what they must be going through. His wife looked like she’d been run over by a truck. What was he thinking, to do this to his family!

please see
http://www.nysun.com/article/70616
The Spitzer bill S.5829 is euphemistically called the Reproductive Health and Privacy Protection Act. It would raise abortion to the level of a fundamental right, like the freedom of speech, and would therefore prohibit virtually any restrictions at all. According to an urgent “news & action update” released by the New York State Catholic Conference and distributed at all masses last week, the act would force doctors to perform abortions; force Catholic hospitals to perform abortions; force health care insurance plans to cover them; force employers to purchase abortion coverage; authorize non physicians to perform abortions, and undermine parental involvement in the life decisions of their children.

In addition, the Conference warns that the state’s civil rights laws protecting doctors and nurses who do not wish to be involved in abortions would be in serious jeopardy. The state’s funding to abortion alternative programs and agencies would be required to cover abortions. Many regard this proposed law as ultra radical and beyond the pale, but when it comes to abortion, Mr. Spitzer has consistently been loyal to the abortion advocates who’ve helped fund his political career.

You got that right. In his statement from yesterday, the key word he used was ‘progressive.’ He is another one of those ‘progressives’ - liberal facist, as a writer recently noted - who believes they can do anything as long as their goal is achieved.

I wrote this in another thread. "Spitzer will never resign. He’s not one of us; he’s Spitzer. The rule of law wasn’t written for him.

The NY Legislature may decide to consider impeachment, but it won’t be accomplished. The liberal media and liberal elitists in NY will stand by their man. After all is said and done, Spitzer will continue as Governor, and continue to torment anyone who offends him. Because he’s Spitzer.

I believe it. The NYT has already written how they believe he can survive. Approval ratings notwithstanding, his liberal elite friends will see to it he stays.

I feel bad for his wife and daughters...but she is apparently a good lawyer and hopefully will get everything she needs to start over and provide for those kids...enough so that when Spitzer sees the light of day, he ends up with nothing.

That is exactly what he deserves. A complete airing of his corruption, A-Z, a lengthy prison sentence, and then a life of squalor so that folks can point to him as the icon of what not to be and how a lust for power and dominance can corrupt and destroy.

This guy basically has proven every one of his critics right, because of his inability to simply keep it in his pants.....

I don’t get it... a guy with 3 daughters.... 3 daughters is out there hiring rediculously priced prostitutes knowing full well if he ever got caught it would be public information. How the hell does a Father, any Father with an ounce of integrity even contemplate having an affair let alone visiting whorehouses or hookers?

A father’s job is to show their daughters what a good man is, and what a man who is worthy of them should be. Instead this jacka$$ is out there treating other folks daughters as pieces of meat for his own picadillos. Here are 3 girls now who will never ever trust a man fully in their lives... Way to go you complete and utter jacka$$.

Sometimes God likes to run a test - like the Emergency Broadcast System - to see if people are awake. The Governor must have missed the lightning bolts sent Giuliani's way when he tried to justify and rationalize abortion in the debates. He doesn't kid around.

Liberals need to start paying attention and doing the homework. Disrespect for marriage and innocent life is flirting with disaster. He got it.

A bunch of women on a hilltop in a thunderstorm.
Two are fencing with metal rapiers, one is playing with her ham radio (huge antenna), two are on high aluminum stilts.

I only saw one still picture, but she appeared to have none of the haughty demeanor Hillary did. Instead she looked absolutely miserable, her expression was one of mixed contempt, the anger of a woman scorned, and the misery of the betrayed. Other images I have seen of her alone showed her to be attractive, yet her hair was out of place, etc. I do not think this will be a repeat of Hill and Bill.

I wrote a letter to him when he was Attorney General about trying to shut down the pregnancy crisis centers in NY. His response to me was total arrogance and contempt. People, this mans support of the killing of unborn children borderlined on satantic. He is a very evil man.

This is my enduring memory of Herr Spitzer.

An anti-life Nazi.

I don't rejoice in his present difficulties; I 'd be much happier if he simply had a change of heart and repented. Maybe he will. Maybe he won't.

However, perhaps this scandal will result in him keeping a lower profile and he'll simply leave good people alone, which may be the most we can hope for.
