You’re apparently not interested in reality. There are no surgical abortions or RU-486 abortions by non-physicians permitted now (anywhere in the country) or under this bill. And the “morning after pill”, if you choose to define that as “abortion” (though neither medicine nor the law does) is already available without prescription to anyone over 18, and there are already plenty of situations where certain non-physician licensed healthcare professionals such as nurse practitioners may prescribe the morning after pill to a minor, along with almost any other prescription medication that is not in a controlled substance category.

The bill if passed repeals the requirement in current law that says only doctors can perform abortions. The ex-Governors bill would allow any health care practitioner to perform the procedure prior to viability: a dentist, nurse, podiatrist, social worker, physician assistant, chiropractor, midwife, even an optometrist. Current law states that only a duly licensed physician may perform the procedure. This is a dangerous and extreme change which clearly puts women’s health at risk, and mirrors a national abortion strategy to expand the scope of various health care practitioners to specifically include infanticide.
