Now, there is enogh academic evidence to shred ridiculous clam that Shqiptars are Illyrians to pieces.
No serious scholar will touch it with six foot pole because it can ruin academic career faster than Piltodwn man.
Rent-a-scholars will, but the shoddy quality of their scholarship is a tell tale.
You are absolutelly right with this. Illyrian genetic pool, like Kelt is part of the Balkan heritage. It is impossible to say who inherited it, because of the thousands of years of population mix.
Genetic study you cite is quite familiar, and it was used and even more abused by various groups, even white power racists.
It also showed many surprises. It showed large population mix in norhern Iitaly between Slavic and Romanic groups, as well between Germanic and Slavic in Germany. It caused quite a consernation in Germany. Also, it demonstrated shows that Magyars (i.e. etnic Hungarians) are more Slavic then Serbs when markers are used as a yardstick.
What it dead wrong with this study is that it mix apples and organges, i.e. ethnic background and citizenship.
For example, the question is not what is an Illyrian, but "what criteria was used to describe a member of ethnically diverse country?"
For example, when Albania was created, ethnic Shqip were barely over 50% of the population. The rest were Greeks, Turks, Tzintzars, Serbs, Montenegrins and others. After 90 years, official Albania describes the entire population as 95% Albanian. It is valid from political standpoint, but not good enough from genetical standpoint. If you have Greek gene pool in the country, it is not surprising that it is similiar to gene pool in Greece. Even Greece is special case, signifficant number of ethnic Greeks moved to the Balkans after the expulsion from Asia Minor. They are Greeks in cultural and political sense, but not necesarilly in genetic sense.
Because of the possibility for misuse and manipulation, even racist one, use of genetic markers is extremely tricky and should be left to academic sphere, not used for daily politics. Geneticists are not falling in the same trap as cuasual readers. I believe we can have an agreement on this and stick to politics.
Naturally, there is zero, ZERO evidence for her assertion. It's laughable.
I bet Joan really won't like the fact that some Montenegrin Serb tribes were originally Albanians.
DNA tests show that the Croatians from my part of the Dinaric Alps aren't really all that Slavic (anywhere from 20-40%) so therefore are mostly those original inhabitants of the peninsula (Illyrians), mixed in with some Roman blood and naturally Vlach blood.
There are two villages near Zadar in Dalmatia where the Croatians are actually descended from Albanians who moved up from Albania several centuries ago. They were called "Arbanasi". They had a program on television which showed several groups of them go on a trip to the villages that they originated from.
Senjski uskoci (pirates of Senj, Dalmatia) were able to contest Venetia’s supremacy rule of Adriatic.
Exactly what Illyrians were doing 15 centuries before. I place the bet for highest concentration of Illyrian genetic material in them.
And, many other countries behaved in a similar manner during that time - no explanation needed - you're being silly.
Look, why don't we just cut through all the manure here and get down to brass tacks.
What you have been trying to demonstrate, through all of your posts, is that the Serbs are the modern day Nazis.
Why can't you just be honest and say that, or, am I missing something?
Sure I'm aware of that and the intermixing which is why some "Montenegrins" have that primitive, violent Code of Lek that Albanians do.
It's also why many Albanians have the -ic ending to their name . They are often in the news about murders, being murdered (by other Albanians), violence, etc. like this recent news story of a murdered and chopped up ethnic Albanian from Montenegro who has an -ic ending name:
Nephew to face charges on brutal Danbury murder
DANBURY -- Nearly four years after Gusto Ristorante chef Zef Vulevic was found shot and dismembered in New York state, Danbury police have obtained a warrant charging his nephew with the murder.
Marash Gojcaj, 31, who was also Vulevic's business partner in the upscale Main Street eatery, is incarcerated in New York state for drunken driving and will be charged as soon as he completes his sentence, authorities said.
Vulevic, 41, also known as Joe Vuli, was last seen leaving the restaurant in the early morning hours of April 5, 2004. His body, shot twice in the back of the head and cut into seven pieces, was discovered in a wooded area of Bedford, N.Y., during an Earth Day cleanup three weeks later.
But the motive for the murder, and the information that led police to his alleged killer, remain shrouded in the same kind of mystery that has enveloped the case almost from the beginning.
Gojcaj was a suspect almost from the start. But after an intensive search of the restaurant failed to uncover any forensic evidence indicating Vulevic had been killed there, investigators eventually began looking at other possible scenarios.
He was one of seven siblings of a family of ethnic Albanians who emigrated to the United States from Montenegro in the early 1970s
On the night Vulevic was last seen, he tried to break up an argument outside the restaurant between Gojcaj and another man. Employees later said Vulevic "seemed stressed" before he disappeared, and Gojcaj said he assumed that his uncle, who left his cell phone at the restaurant, had chosen to walk back to the apartment the two shared on Liberty Street.
Gojcaj reopened Gusto in late May 2004, but sold the business in 2005.
Last August, Stamford police charged him with sexually assaulting a woman in the elevator at the Marriott. The alleged victim, who'd dined at Vuli with her boyfriend earlier in the evening, claimed Gojcaj groped her and kept her in the elevator against her will for several minutes
What I post is POLICE news from a country which is NOT anti-Albanian. Unlike hyped war propaganda which is often lies and exaggeration - police work, and done in countries with no particular anti-Albanian bent - is based on methodical investigation and piecing together the facts before they have a news report.
Ahem, like someone who was akin to "Ronly Bonly Jones"...Look around.
Kosovo has been a battleground between ethnic Serbians and Albanians for hundreds of years.
Was there Albania before 1910?
