Colombia: Evidence suggests Chavez gave FARC $300M

(CNN) -- Evidence found in computers seized in a raid over the weekend suggests that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez recently gave the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia $300 million, Colombia's national police chief said Monday.

Speaking at a news conference, Gen. Oscar Naranjo also said evidence in the computers suggests FARC had given Chavez 100 million pesos when he was a jailed rebel leader.

FARC has fought to overthrow the Colombian government for 40 years.

Chavez had no immediate response to the allegations involving him.

Naranjo said other evidence in the computers suggests FARC purchased 50 kilograms of uranium this month.

Meanwhile, Colombia said Monday it won't send troops to its southwest and northeast borders, where Venezuelan and Ecuadoran military forces were to be separately deployed after a Colombian raid into Ecuador.

Correa and Chavez are two of several leftist presidents who have been elected in Latin America in recent years. Uribe is a rightist with close ties to the United States.

Gee, I’m sure the little people in Venezuela will simply LOVE the fact that despite growing economic hardship at home that Chavez gave away $300 million.

“Naranjo said other evidence in the computers suggests FARC purchased 50 kilograms of uranium this month.”

This is troublesome at so many levels.

Do they want it for radiological blackmail? To resell to another 3rd party? It’s one or the other (or both), as they aren’t going to be making actual nukes.

Key antagonists are allying together against the West in general and against the US specifically. You have Iran, Venzuela, Cuba, Ecuador, North Korea, and others being supported by China and to some extent Russia, while the US and its major allies are on the other side.

I am convinced that the major player is China and that it will use the likes of Iran, Venezuela and others to nit-pick us and get us embroiled in regional conflicts.

At some point, if we get tied up enough with conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan, in South America or perhaps Central America, and then perhaps in Iran and Africa as well...and particularly if a Democrat gets in the White House...then after the Olympics, watch out for China in the Western Pacific, starting with Taiwan.

And with conditions in Serbia being what they are, you cannot rule out Europe as well.

At that point, with conflict in the Mid East, Asia, South America, and perhaps Africa and Europe...you are talking about a World War.

IMHO, that's what this is about and leads to.

My DRAGONS FURY SERIES NOVEL, outlines this type of scenario, although a little different in terms of exact allies in that fictional work. But a warning of where things could lead nonetheless.

This is why I get really mad when people act like Communism is no longer an enemy of our country. It’s alive, it just changed masks. And it is undeniably growing stronger in Latin America.

MORE DETAILS AT EARTH NEWS:

The computers also yielded evidence that FARC had traded 50 kilogrammes of uranium and sent illegal drugs to Mexico, Naranjo said.

During four decades of rebel conflict in Colombia, FARC has long been known to fund its operations through the drug trade. But the allegations it has been trading in uranium represent a new charge.

Information about Chavez’s financial contributions was found in a copy of a report on the computer that had been submitted to the rebel leadership by FARC leader Ivan Marquez, following a two-day meeting with Venezuelan Interior Minister Ramon Rodriguez Chacin, the police chief said.

“In the same way that there is information compromising Ecuadorian Security Minister Gustavo Larrea (in dealings with FARC), there is information compromising Rodriguez Chacin. We have found photographs of people who met with the rebels,” Naranjo said.
