You don't have to "honor" something to keep it in its historic context.

The problem comes when folks try to make "anti-Americanism" and "slavery" popular again.

If Michelle Obama realized that she's deep into that stuff herself she might well grab a big old battle banner on a staff and run nekkid through the streets under it, whooping and hollering.
