NASHVILLE - The state Senate has voted unanimously make it a crime for illegal immigrants to use falsified federal identification to gain employment.
Without debate, the Senate unanimously passed the bill and another that would make it a misdemeanor for anyone who manufactures the falsified documents.
The companion bills have yet to be heard in the House Judiciary Committee.

isn’t it illegal to be in the country illegally in the first place ???? *bangs head on wall*
Well, it’s a start. If the House passes it, will the Governor sign it?
Indiana’s trying to get tough on illegals, but huas come up with a wussified bill that doesn’t have the teeth needed. Still, it’s incrementalism and as things pass and get tougher—if not “really tough”—some illegals it is shownn (in GA and AZ) will leave that state even before the laws go into effect. The trouble is, most will stay in the U.S. illegally by simply moving to a pro-illegal state like TX or CA.
OK, this is just painful! Isn't this already illegal???

um yes its illegal, but how many of the millions doing this have been prosecuted by Bush&Company?
Because the federal government will do little about this crisis the states’ are now dealing with it. Tennessee had a short lived drivers-licenses-for-illegals experiment. There were increases in accidents, hit-and-runs, uninsured motorists, and forgeries related to the licenses. A multiple fatality accident caused by an illegal moved the legislature to abandon the scheme.
I read recently that many illegals leaving Arizona, because of the crackdown on employers, were moving to Utah. This has prompted the Utah legislature to begin drafting laws similar to Arizona. If people push their state lawmakers to act, illegals will be channelized into “sanctuary cities” and states where liberals can support them until they go broke.
Since that's a loaded political question, I can understand and dismiss it.
What baffles me is that using fake ID for illegal purposes by anyone is not presently a jail time crime.
Or is that true only for illegal aliens?
Works for me!
I don't care what brainless liberals do with their own money.
It's when they start passing laws forcing the rest of us to fund their insanity that the fireworks start.
Apparently only for lawful U.S. citizens!
Should be a Federal crime with immediate deportation, our prisons are too full anyway.
Illegal entry into the US is misdemeanor
Illegal re-entry is a felony
Visa overstay is only a civil infraction
All three are punishable by deportation
Regarding the use of a fake federal ID(SS card), using someone's SS number is a misdemeanor while using someone's name and SS number is a felony(ID theft).

They have to vote on this?
“OK, this is just painful! Isn’t this already illegal???”
In their shallow, leaglistic minds, the illegality only applies to legal citizens, not illegals; To make the intent of the law apply to illegals in the same way it applies to legals the legislators think they have to pass a new law that makes it illegal for illegals to have fake legal documents.

Sure. People who are already breaking the law are not going to obey any additional law.
It isn’t already?!?!?!
At least they remedied that. I just hope someone has the wherewithal to enforce it.
Ping.
