Why? How would you feel if you saw a North Carolina or Texas or Florida plate with the crest of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War on it? Honest opinion.

I wouldn't feel anything. As everybody knows, some Southerners fought for the union and some northerners fought for the Confederacy. Just like when I see the Mexican flag. They can fly their damn rag all they want to. It's when they trash my flag that I get angry.

I couldn't find any SUV's in the South but I did find SCV's in Wisconsin, California and Oregon.

It's also interesting that notable members of the SCV's include Clint Eastwood, Harry Truman and Nelson W. Winbush.

You must not have looked very hard. It took me about 20 seconds to find a web page that lists SUVCW camps in Florida, Texas and Tennessee (includes Alabama), plus Camps-at-Large for Georgia and North Carolina.

We're not as open minded out here in America's heartland, I guess. Other than specialized plates for state university alumni I think we only have about half a dozen military-related special tags and about the same number of tags for organizations. I doubt that SCV will be on the list any time soon.

Former members of the Grand Army of the Republic, precursor to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, included most presidents between 1868 and 1900. Not to mention congessmen, businessmen, and so forth.
