:( Yes, the sale of terrible towels goes to Allegheny Valley school for the Mentally Disabled.
How sad, I know he wasn’t well for the past few years, but he was an integral part of da burgh.

The pass hit him right between the "8" and the "2"... and bounced away.

I still have my Terrible Towel that has traveled the world with me since I left Western PA in the mid '80s. We'll miss you Myron!Yoi! So do I! I have the original gold one that I bought at a 5 & 10 after he told everyone on the news to go out and buy one! I also had a couple of the official ones but that one WAS the original! RIP Myron and condolences to the family.

Just a little bit of trivia for ya’....when I was in Korea, Gen. Hayden, the current director of the CIA, was the Deputy Commander of UNC/USFK. I had to brief him on some base security issues for Yongsan Garrison in Seoul. As with any captain briefing a three star, I was a bit nervous, but when I stepped into his office I was struck by the massive display of black and gold, Steeler memorabilia, framed Pittsburgh skyline photos, etc. I broke the ice by introducing myself as a Western PA boy, and we talked about the old Steelers, the 'burgh and, yes, I believe Myron Cope entered the conversation.
The briefing went very smoothly after that :-) Although I have no way of knowing for sure, I'm guessing that his office at CIA HQ is probably replete with Steeler stuff...

Spent much of my day listening to the radio, DVE, ESPN 1250, and 104.7 all did smalll tributes all afternoon. Much of my workday was spent choked up.
Thank you Myron, have a shot and a cigar with the Chief and remember the good ol' days.

That’s great! I bet we could tell dozens of stories!
It wasn’t until now that I connected the name Joe 6-pack! You used to call into his show, didn’t you!?!?!

Condolences to his family. This is truly a sad day. Myron was an original.
Pirates games were never the same after BoB “The Gunner” Prince. I fear Steelers games won’t be the sameanymore, either.

I'm a Reds and a Steelers fan. First, Joe Nuxhall, now Myron Cope gone. Them two described a lot of memorable action for the fans.
RIP, Myron.

As a University of Kentucky fan, I remember well in 2001 when we lost our longtime broadcaster, Cawood Ledford. He had been the voice of Wildcat basketball and football for over four decades. My condolences and prayers to the Cope family, friends, and all of Steeler Nation.
