I’d say that would be McCain’s problem... he himself feels he’s the shoo-in, and I can’t argue. If he ends up wrong from his own arrogance and stupidity, well then, he screwed up, didn’t he. Wouldn’t be the first time.

If there were a Perot (center-right patriot) out there (before we learned what a nutball the guy was), this would be the year for a successful independent run for the Presidency. for the GOP, McCain is not supported by the GOP base. For the Dem’s, neither Hill nor Obama are qualified to be President, both are no accomplishment, corrupt, political hacks. It would be wide open for a qualified independent (not Bloomberg) to run. Perot killed any appetite for third party campaigns.
