AUSTIN, Texas - Hillary Clinton, the front-runner no more, sought to bury Barack Obama, but also to praise him in their latest campaign debate and revive her own White House hopes in the process.
"No matter what happens in this contest and I am honored, I am honored to be here with Barack Obama," she said at the conclusion of the 90-minute forum. "Whatever happens, we're going to be fine."
It was an unexpectedly gracious moment in a debate that was supposed to be a game changer for Clinton in the run-up to crucial primaries in Texas and Ohio March 4. After losing 11 straight contests to Obama in a race now clearly breaking his way, the former first lady chose the high road and even delivered what sounded to many like the dress rehearsal for a campaign valedictory address.
Her remarks were "almost a quasi-concession speech," said Texas state Rep. Rafael Anchia, who backs Obama.
Clinton doubtless didn't intend her words to be taken that way.
In a round of television appearances Friday morning, Clinton said her remarks were intended as "a recognition that both of us are on the brink of historic change.

Did that “graciousness” come before or after her “Xerox” comment?
In all the years that President Bush has engaged in kissing Democrat butt, has he ever been accused by the Drive-By Media of “graciousness”?
I hear she agreed to meet him in a park for an afternoon of ice cream, tree climbing, hide-and-seek, and skeet shooting! :-)
Angling for Veep...
Is Hillary is resigned to being a vice presidential candidate at this point?
She really is an awful politician... Think of all the advantages she has, and she loses to an unknown rookie? I wouldnt be surprised, after this is all over, if she didnt go to some two bit motel somewhere and drown herself in tears.
Watch that bit with the sound off and tell me what you see.
Actually, the concession was made by Bubba a few days ago when he said, “If she wins Texas and Ohio...”
Query?
How soon after she loses the nomination does she divorce him?
Uh......NO.
This headline is just precious.
Unexpectedly gracious?? - How about unexpectedly gracious and stupid?
How about, "Ultimately, events will prove this country to be fine, and I ask for your vote to achieve them." ?
That went over like a lead balloon. I thin that was her last gasp. When she realized it was going nowhere I think she threw in the towel. It's over and she knows it.
Assuming that anybody gives a damn, that's good to hear.
She reeks of vapidity.
Her husband can recommend a few I'm sure.
I wouldnt be surprised, after this is all over, if she didnt go to some two bit motel somewhere and drown herself in tears.

She would probably find a pair of Bill’s shorts there ....
Of course she is gracious... to a fellow traveler.
LOL...Hillary is hoping Obama will choose her as his VP running mate. Even if he were that stupid, I doubt that Michelle Obama would allow that blunder. She seems to be Hillary’s match and then some.
She's probably doing that nightly, already. She must be a total wreck.
Internal polling must be showing that the “bitch factor” is killing her. But it’s a little late to be trying to fix that. ;)
