Sinn Fein president Gerry Adams has paid tribute to Cuban leader Fidel Castro, who is retiring on health grounds after 49 years in power.
Mr. Adams met President Castro during a controversial visit to Cuba in 2001.
The West Belfast MP said Tuesday's announcement marked "the end of an era in Cuban and Latin American politics."
"He leaves behind him a country with world class health and education systems and I wish him well in his retirement," he said.
Mr. Adams' 2001 trip to Cuba was criticised at the time by some US politicians, including Republican Congressman Peter King, a long time supporter of Sinn Fein, who described Fidel Castro as a "human rights violator."
While he was in Havana, Mr. Adams unveiled a monument in memory of 10 republican prison hunger-strikers who died in Northern Ireland in 1981......

Gerry Adams and Sinn Fein-IRA are indeed followers of Karl Marx as is exemplified in this story.
That's a story that too few people know whenever Northern Ireland has been discussed and is being discussed.
Adams and Castro both said in the aftermath of September 11th, 2001 that "progressive movements" around the world were "setback" by the terrorist attacks.

This guy owned the bar where the Provos planned terror attacks. If he’s on Cuba it should be at Gitmo.

Once again for the helluvit:
Your GRANDFATHER “retires.”
A duly elected official, “resigns.”
Old, murderous, cruel, decrepit despots “step down.”
Ascribe nothing of honor to this despicable dog that should have been, “put down.”

Adams ran a socialist murder gang that attempted to impose its will on an unwilling majority by force, murder and terror. Of course, he’s sympathetic to Castro. Only the morons in the US Congress and the clueless fourth generation Irsh-Americans in Boston and Chicago would be surprised at such a development.

Fascinating how the left will so quickly idolize a "dictator for (almost) life".
They claim to fight "oppression" their whole lives and then support a system in which a dictator controls a nation for fifty five years and then "retires" by handing it off to his brother.

I can see the problem with the pic on the left, but what’s wrong with teaching kids about large caliber rifles?

I can see the problem with the pic on the left, but whats wrong with teaching kids about large caliber rifles? Well, as a gun enthusiast myself: there's nothing wrong with that at all!
Except that instead of simply learning about firearms safety or how to field strip, clean and reassemble a carbine, they are being indoctrinated in communist paramilitary "Defense of the Homeland against the Yanqui invader"-type crap. And "reading" is Dr. Marx, not Dr. Suess. Likewise, "history" and "science".
