Obama wins Hawaii caucuses
Chicago Tribune ^ | 20 Feb 2008 | Jason George

Maybe they should've called it " Hawaii 10-0," as Sen. Barack Obama now has ten straight wins after besting Sen. Hillary Clinton in Tuesday's Hawaii caucuses.

Neither Obama nor Clinton campaigned in person for Hawaii's 20 delegate votes, but both recently had surrogates in the 50th state -- Clinton employed daughter Chelsea and Obama had half-sister Maya Soetero-Ng appear on his behalf. Obama, who was born and spent part of his youth on Hawaii, ran radio ads in recent weeks stressing his "native son" credentials.

On Tuesday night, in an e-mail to his supporters before the Hawaii victory was announced, Obama said winning there could foretell future successes: "If we win in Hawaii, it will be ten straight victories -- a streak no one thought possible, and the best position we can be in when Ohio, Texas, Rhode Island and Vermont vote on March 4th."

Asoociated Press has called it for Obama, with Obama now at 76% to Clinton’s 23%, with more than half the precincts reporting.

I don't think Hillary can stop him now, UNTIL THE CONVENTION.

That's when she takes it all back, and all Hell breaks loose.

Note how the AP studiously avoided listing the margin of victory (at least at press time) of around 76-23. Still trying to cover the Clintons. Still the writer did get in a good first line with the "Hawaii 10-0" label.

I just noticed the strangest thing. I’ve been screen capturing through the night the results from Drudge’s ABC link and at 4:18am EST AP reported 70% of precincts had reported their results but the AP’s 4:37am EST update shows only 67% reporting. I’m gonna presume that they meant to write 77% since the actual vote totals grew. Still kind of fun to capture such a mistake.

We are witnessing the end of the Clinton Machine. This is a very, very good thing.

Great clown car animation! Needs to show the wheels falling of the Klinton Kiddie Kar, though!

Today should be fun to watch... if this were any other candidate the first, second and third questions at her thighnesses next appearance would be .. When are you going to concede the race? Instead we’re going to see her team get very nasty in a public way... great theater.

Don't be so sure of that just yet. Especially when there are boneheaded people on our side crossing over to vote for her, because they think she is "easier to beat." She would be easier to beat if all things were fair and legit. But people need to remember, the Clintons will do anything, vote fraud, dead voters, underhanded dirty politics, nothing can be put past them. So I hope she loses now and does not somehow end up the nominee.

OK. I will not count my chickens now. I will wait patiently...

“That’s when she takes it all back, and all Hell breaks loose.”

That is the truth, and I can’t wait to see her do it. Maybe the black voters will finally see what the white power-brokers in the democratic party are really made of.

The Dem power brokers aren't going to foist Hillary on the party over Obama because of race alone. They'll do it mainly because she has establishment power over them. Whether it's FBI files or favors or because she knows who they slept with last year.

So it's not just black voters who will feel, and be, disenfranchised. Obama's lead over Clinton cuts across all demographics. White folks who've voted for him will be at least as pissed off as black folks.

Young voters will be especially annoyed, since for a lot of them this is their first experience with the American political system. I don't know whether they'll feel the pain strongly enough to riot, or just shrug it off as politics as usual and go back to staring at MySpace.
