Not everyone over there feels the way it was reported by CNN and the BBC.

CNN hates the US.

BBC is worse.

I’m going to check with my boss today and see if I can assist with the relief. Probably can’t. But I’ll check.

Thank you, Jemian, for your comments.
My niece is there on a mission to Banda Aceh. Aged 24, one of the sweetest kids you will ever meet. Braver than me. I didn’t want her to go there. She covers her head and keeps a low profile. So far, a year later, so good.

Anyway, she normally pops up on Skype to say she’s ok but I haven’t heard from her yet. I pray that she is.

Odd, we saw on the History Channel last week that if another big EQ hit the island chains of Crete, another island could and probably would go under from the tsunamis.

The geophysicists said the lost island of Atlantis is probably located in that area. They showed photos from years ago and present photos. It’s a totally different chain of islands. Hopefully, there won’t be a volcano to complete the trifecta of all h*ll breaking loose.

We have enough people to help in our own country and immediate neighboring countries we don’t need to go looking.

Ron, I am over in the far eastern province. Last night our prayer chain was activated because we had no info on our workers in Aceh. I’ll call my bosses in a few hours (it is on 0634 here) and see if there is any update. I’ll be sending you a freepmail in a few minutes.

It would make more sense for me to help than for someone being sent from the States. I agree with you that we should take care of our immediate proximatey first. But I’m close.

No foreign aid. But privately, sure those who are able should (on their own - not forced) help.

I’m down with that. Our whole government aid program should be abolished and left up to voluntary donations of time and resources. The government has no right to give away our money.

I agree completely with you about our government aid program. No question or argument there.

I believe that is what I stated in my above post.

Here is an email I just received from a colleague. I've changed a few of the identifying details:

Thank you for praying for the team, and the residents of the island on which they are serving, which experienced the 7.6 earthquake yesterday afternoon. We had a skype chat with a team member shortly after we asked for prayer last night, saying they were safe after having returned from running up the mountain in case of tsunami. Although all communications and electricity on the island were cut off, they were able to connect via a new satellite internet system that was installed last week in their camp on the island.

They have asked for continued prayer for the many frightened people who had to experience another earthquake disaster.

I read an article that only three rather elderly people had died. I hope you hear from your niece soon.

Earthquake? I thought the space shuttle just landed. Usually they happen when the shuttle is up there. (tinfoil hat off)
