Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee announced a Wednesday-Thursday swing through Texas, where polls show him in a tight race with national front-runner John McCain.

On Wednesday, Huckabee will be in Plano for a 7:30 p.m. rally at the Collin County Community College’s Spring Creek campus.

Thursday will begin with an 8 a.m. rally in Houston, with additional details still to be worked out. Huckabee also will attend a private fundraiser at noon before moving to San Antonio to visit the Alamo at 4 p.m. and lead a 7:30 p.m. rally at St. Mary’s University.

It’s nice to see that Mr. Huckabee is still doing his best.

Does he have any upcoming gigs in Switzerland or Monaco?

He can investigate banking issues there like he did in the Cayman Islands.

Nearly a week after publicly criticizing St. Mary’s University last week for allowing a pro-choice presidential candidate (Hillary Rodham Clinton) to speak there, Archbishop Jose Gomez said this morning that he has no objections to the pro-life position of presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, who is speaking at the same campus this Thursday evening.

Texas started early voting today.

My Mom and I voted today. There were probably 30 Republicans and five democrats voting when we were there.

When we entered the parking lot, there were college age youngsters waving signs for various candidates in a "hot" contest here. After I voted I decided to ask one young woman why she was endorsing a particular candidate. Other than saying, "I'm a volunteer from **** ***", she could not give a reason. (I thought, perhaps he buys the most pizza & cokes for his volunteers since she has not one reason for supporting him.)

After our brief encounter, I realized she is very young, and very naive. I remember being that way once upon a time. Time has a way of curing that. Now, I'm just old and stupid!

I know a lot of people think that, and he was not my first choice candidate by any means. (By the time the North Carolina primary rolls around in late May, there may be nobody on the ballot but Jeff Davis.) However, I still think it’s good that we haven’t lost all the Republican candidates other than McCain. A lot of the country hasn’t had a chance to vote yet, and I’m disappointed with those who have given up.

If he scheduled a visit to Arlan Texas he might be crowned “King of the Hill”.

I was born and raised in Florida. I think that qualifies me a native southerner. I wanted Thompson first. He was shut out, for whatever reason. I then supported Romney. I watched the incredible venom from many here and watched him drop out.

Huckabee has zero chance of being elected. I am a realist. We have McCain, that is a fact! I dislike him too. However, before his hissy fit over losing the 2000 nomination he was a good conservative voter. NO MATTER WHAT, WE ARE BETTER OFF WITH MCCAIN THAN OBAMA OR CLINTON!

That is the way it is. We can pout and lose everything, or suck it up and do what is best for the country...

Mike

Your thoughts on this guy?

He's no more acceptable than the official shoved-down-our-throats front runner McCain.

I'm disgusted.

I'm packing up all my guns & flatware and moving to Ghana.

I'm going to run a very corrupt used tire shop and learn to eat grubs.

On the bright side, I just saved a ton of money by switching my insurance to GEICO.

Yes, pretty much like what you see upthread in post 7.

Thompson first... then supported Romney.

I didn't switch to Mitt after Fred because of the level of rancor shown by the Mitt supporters here at FR. Anyone with friends like that is probably someone I don't want to associate with.

I'm supporting Huck now because he's the last one standing against the country club crowd. (OK, one of two. If he wasn't still running, I'd go with RP in the primary just to gig the Rudy folks who have now jumped behind McCain.)

I'll have to vote for McCain in the general election, I certainly don't have to before that.

Vote for Huckabee and send the RINO elites a message!

Plus, Huckabee still has a shot to take it to the convention.
