When it comes to fears about a terrorist attack, people in the United States usually focus on Osama bin Laden and foreign-based radical groups. Yet researchers say domestic extremists who commit violence in the name of their cause - abortion or the environment, for example - account for most of the damage from such incidents in this country. more stories like this

These home-grown groups are seven times more likely than overseas groups to commit some kind of violence in the United States, a panel reported yesterday in Boston at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

In many ways, actions by these domestic extremists can be termed "terrorist" cases, the researchers indicated. "The typical 'terrorist' is an alienated guy, usually a young male," said Brian Forst of American University in Washington

Bingo...

More specificly....this is the kind of BS that curtailed the OKC investigation...

Even a cursery search these days drags up confirmed links between Nichols and Abu-Syef....the John do a couple hundred people didnt see...the fleeing brown pickup...the whole nine yards...

It’s rather Ironic...the Bush administration is being accused of inflating the threat from islamic terror...

While the Clintons spent a decade pretending it didnt exist...

Which is the greater danger?

Liberism is a mental disorder.

Lets quote Janet Reno recent freudian slip:

“But what I’ve discovered (from being a prosecutor and attorney general) is that we get tunnel vision,...We want the facts to be something and we wish them into being.”

yes...that sums up the admistration and it’s supporters quite nicely...

Domestic traitors present a greater danger to this country than all the foreign terrorists ever spawned.

I don’t think domestic terrorists would use WMD against us.

If he defines as “terrorist” outfits like the Crips, Bloods, Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, Surenos, Notrenos, etc. he may have a point.

Name one time that a domestic terrorist group caused the collapse of a 100'+ story building killing thousands of people.

It is somewhat shocking to see someone from the field of science make a glaring stab at misinformation in this manner.  It's probably safe to say that we could add up all the deaths from domestic terrorism over the last fifty years, and it would still not equal the death and destruction of the terrorism on 09/11.  For instance, how many deaths have been caused by those evil objectors to abortion, yet the demonization continues.

These folks are blithering idiots, and all they are doing is advancing the thought that foreign born terrorism on our soil is not likely to happen, and the anti-abortion folks are really who you need to keep your eyes on.

Wow...

The number of Americans killed by illegal Mexican “immigrants” by murder and traffic fatalities since 2001 has exceeded the death toll from the WTC attack.

Damphousse said right-wing extremists spend the most time meeting, preparing, and planning before committing a violent act - some 480 "events," whether that is a phone call or some other form of plotting. On a smaller scale are environmental activists who commit violence. On average, it is 59 preparatory activities, he said.

Damphousse is a lunatic. "Right-wing extremists" my a$$. And what "violent acts & 480 events"?? Where did that number come from? Out of his butt?

Odds are this guy's on 27 psychotropic drugs and is nuttier than fruitcake. He must be to say that the Eco-Nazis like ELF and Earth First are on "a smaller scale". Those b@st@rds have caused hundreds of millions in damage, they're just lucky no one has been killed yet, like from 'tree spiking'.

That’s an interesting point. Let’s not expect those stats to be the subject of a study any time soon.
