UNITED NATIONS - The woman who died after falling from the U.N.'s Secretariat Building was a 44-year-old employee of the World Health Organization's International Computing Center, a U.N. spokeswoman said Monday.

U.N. deputy spokeswoman Marie Okabe identified the woman who fell from the 19th floor Sunday as Maria Gabriela Di Biase.

Police and U.N. security officers, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media, said the woman had jumped from a window after showing up to work early in the morning.

Okabe said there was no suspicion of foul play. The police said they are still investigating. The official cause of death was to be determined by the medical examiner.

Di Biase, who has dual Uruguayan and Austrian nationalities, worked on the floor for the cooperative that provides computing and communication services to U.N. agencies. Employees would not discuss her death, though several recalled her as a friendly, likable woman.

United Nations security guards found her body Sunday morning on the lawn, several dozen yards away from the building, overlooking the East River. New York Police Department detectives and a medical examiner were summoned to the scene.

Looks like the body is on a stretcher. That body had probably been moved at the time of the picture.

No one could throw her 50 feet and she couldn’t have jumped that far.

Several dozens of yards? Uhmmmmmm....That meant she had to have had a running start like Florence Joyner, with no obstruction/s. Two dozens of yards is seventy two feet! That would be like jumping out of a downtown Manhattan building and hitting the lobby inside the building across the street!

International Computing Center

Probably lots of data stored there, since 1971.

She shows up "early" to work. To get data? For herself? For someone else?

Then flies out the window to land several yards away.

I like your results.

12 MPH is the rate of a 5 minute mile.

Very, very few 44 year old women can hit 12 MPH downhill on smooth surface. It would take a pretty fair athlete, NBA slam dunk class, to vault 12 MPH out of a window.

Di Biase, who has dual Uruguayan and Austrian nationalities,

Now there's a combination we don't see every day.

Part of the Fourth Reich, perhaps?

I don’t believe she committed suicide. I don’t have any evidence of foul play, but I want to believe something sinister is behind her death. Maybe she overheard an assassination plot (The Interpreter, 2005) or maybe she just discovered too much secret information (North by Northwest, 1959).

No, the spokesperson said “several dozens of yards away”

30 feet is not several dozens of yards like the spokesperson says.

I say she was tossed out of a helicopter near the building to make it look like she was a leaper.

Yeah, right. They don't find it suspicious that a woman gets up early to go to work so she can jump off a building? I wonder was she dressed to work? Did she put on makeup, nice clothes and do all the prep that a woman does to go to work in a nice office environment and jump off a building?

And working for WHO - did she publish anything recently?

My bad......

Okabe is the spokesperson, not the jumper.

I was impressed how she managed to miss the light pole and the ground level grate.

Projectile suicide leap?

Lessee—she comes in early for work—what UN employee ever does that? And early enough to witness someone else coming in?

And how does one open a window in the UN building? I don’t recall pictures of the building with lots of windows open in the summertime.

Oh, and another thing, I’m sure the security cameras just weren’t working on Sunday.

Was she alive when gravity took over? A jumper makes a big blood runoff when they hit and until coagulation. If she were dead even 20 minutes prior to hitting, very little blood would flow.
