The police can't protect you and are not legally obligated to do so. They come and draw the chalk outline and put the remains in a rubber bag.

You are responsible for your own safety. Too bad this girl and her family didn't realize that before.

We had a situation in our family years ago when my aunt’s ex became a stalker and made her life— and my grandparents’ lives— hell, with his threats and harassment. After a couple of weeks, my two uncles came to town and took the stalker for a ride out on a lonely road. They showed him exactly where his body was going to be dumped if he did not leave their sister alone. The harassment stopped immediately.
