And South Africa is the richest country South of the Sahara. With the infrastructure and industry, they actually have money for some kind of reparations.
Buying into failed politics will bring backruptcy.

This is laughable. Everybody talks about Zimbabwe style land grabs, when the South African government has done most of it under the radar already. In 1994 there were over 80,000 commercial farmers, now there are about 16,000 left. Out of those, only about 12,000 are producing anything. Guess which are the ones producing nothing?

This is just the latest bit of public posturing by the ANC government to try and gain favor with the increasingly disgruntled militant wing in their support base.

IMO,there's no way to be certain that this will cause the same degree of chaos in SA as it did in Zimbabwe.SA does,it must be noted, export gold, diamonds and at least one vital metal (titanium?).But then,I'm no economist.

This move certainly won't help SA's agricultural sector.

Right now, due to years of neglect and lack of planning, the national energy supplier cannot supply enough electricity to keep these mines open at 100% production. They have already had to stop operations completely once or twice and lay off thousands of workers because of it.

The same problem causes chaos across all industries and especially small businesses who cannot afford to invest in back-up generators.

Then the backup generation will at least in the shortterm compete with Eskom for fuel for the generators.

Presumably this is in an effort to end the epidemic of obesity.

South Africa has kept going much longer than I expected.

Sounds like they're right about on schedule. It took Mugabe at least twenty years before he set about the task of destroying Rhodesia in earnest.
